I was wondering if anyone has machine Washed the upulstry in their 05 X? I have gotten in it a couple times soaked from the beach and I have an 18 month old that has left some milk stains on the back seat.

I've done it a few time on other cars, but never on my X. It's a lot of work to remove all the oem skins and reinstall them, but they come out really nice.

Usually you can get some pretty good results with some simple green, and scrub brush, and a shop vac though, I'd try that first.

BTW, Welcome to the club!

That's what I have used in the past...Works like a charm. Some fruit juice from a fruit salad spilled in my back seat and set overnight because I didn't notice it steam cleaned it the next day and the stain came right out.

Yep, like KJE300 said, they work great, but not everybody has one or those at home.

Also, you're correct on not wanting to do it if it's cold, because you'll want to have the windows down and a big fan going in there to blow dry any moisture out very quickly. If you don't, it will smell like a wet dog in there forever, lol.

Do you use the simple green straight from the bottle or cut it with anything first?

I run it about 50/50 with water for most, and strait on the tough stuff. Also, rinse it using another squirt bottle with just water in it. Try not to get too much of any of it in the seat foam as much as you can. Keep shopvacing it till it's just about dry. Then run a fan on it till it's totally dry

The X is the first vehicle I've had that the seats weren't either vinyl covered or had aftermarket covers that just slipped off for the wash. I am surprised how something as small as a few drops of coke can spread and stain this supposed 'tough' seat material.

You can always scotchguard it once you have it clean. That works well to prevent stains...
