Hi everyone,

I'm 21 and I've had my silver 2002xe for 4 years now. I'm not much of a car guy, but I've always want to be able to take my xterra apart and fix whatever breaks on it. Recently I've been paying more attention to it. I've revitalized the sun damaged plastic, I can change my oil, replace my bulbs etc. Haha kinda pathetic, I know, but cars have never been a strong suit with me. There's something really special about xterras though, and I want to be able to do anything I need to with it so I'm putting the effort and learning more and more about it. At the moment I'm trying to alter my factory stereo so that I have an audio cable coming out of it that can plug into my mp3 player. Any advice on removing the factory stereo would be most appreciated!

Welcome to the club.
Here's a great link that I copied out of one of Odin's posts for manuals for our X's : http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/xterra/

That should really help give you an idea mechanically how everything goes together.
