My 2006 Xterra has a rattle that has been there since I took delivery several weeks ago. The rattle was really obvious on rough dirt roads and snow packed roads. I hunted and searched for the rattle but I could not locate the source. I even went so far as to remove the spare tire, rear floor panel, jack and tools and every thing else in the rear of the vehicle. The rattle persisted and it was driving me nuts. My wife drove the Xterra while I sat in the back trying to locate the rattle. The rattle appeared to be coming from the floor or the passenger side rear fender well plastic panel. I finally gave up after spending way too much time on trying to locate the rattle. I finally took it back to the dealer. They too had a hard time locating the rattle until I took the service manager for a ride on a rough road. The source of the rattle was finally located. The rattle was caused by a loose crossbar clamp on the rear roof rack crossbar. The clamp was just loose enough to appear tight but loose enough to produce a rattle when driving on a rough road. My Xterra is now rattle free.....
