I've got a team coming together for the 2010 season of the 24 Hours of LeMons. I thought I would post up some info as an invite to others to get a team together and as a half assed blog attempt. Once things really get rolling I will be keeping my site updated. www.triangle-racing.com/home_lemons.html. For now we are just in the organizing stages.

What is the 24 Hours of LeMons?

Well, it's certainly NOT the 24 hours of LeMans! It's an endurance race series for cars costing no more than $500 to purchase and race prep.

My team will be competing in the Chicago event, the Rod Blagojevich Never-Say-Die 500, October 23-24.

And if we can pull together enough sponsorship money there are several other events I will try to get to. They have expanded to a large event list all across the country. http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/events/

We have 3 confirmed and about 5 interested drivers. Have a couple potential cars but am waiting until around March to get one picked out and start working on it because of other projects.

We don't have a vehicle, official LeMons team name or a theme yet, bet I am willing to listen to an incessant whining about joining the team!

So you think you are crazy enough? Well welcome to TR Recruiting.

We are currently looking to fill one, maybe 2 drivers position. The fee for this is the same as all the other TR members are required to pay $800. For your money you get the possibility of seat time behind one the wheel of our Lemons racer, which we have yet to pick out. I say possibility because there are no garuntees the car wont blow up before you get your chance behind the wheel and there are no refunds. We all roll the dice equally on this one

But rest assured we intend to build a reliable car and we aren't a bunch of quitters so we will all do our best to ensure the car runs as long as it can, as often as it can. Being our first time out we do fully intend to build more on a reliability standpoint and be a bit conservative with the car selection. We'll save the duce and a quarter with the v12 jag engine swap for another time after we get some experience. Top contenders at the moment are an 01 Chevy Cavalier w/ 115k miles that needs a manual trans swap, the plethora of other ~2L wonder cars that you can't blow up ( Hyundai tiburn/elantra/pony/sCoupe, turn of the century escort zx2, 90's saturn coupes, etc) or a 4 banger early 90's fox body mustang. We may come up with some thing else in the future but that is what is on the table at the moment. Any suggestions welcome, but don't get but hurt if/when we tell you you're whacked outta your brain. =]

You will also be provided with a team shirt and other paraphanalia if we come up with anything. Priority consideration and reduced rates on future Lemons events. Your fees will go toward fuel and spares so no further investment will be required of you other than providing your own personal safety equipment. For this race(s) you will be required to have: Full face SA2000 or newer rated helmet, neck roll, SFI fire suit with long johns, gloves, and shoes. This can all be purchased for a very reasonable price here:http://yhst-14891464457018.stores.yahoo.net/ Additional details and arrangements will be discussed during the interviews.

Ideally we are looking for local candidates (local to Chicago/NW Indiana 46307) who have the skills, time and desire to help in the build.

We are currently accepting submissions via PM on this web site, or email to mac@Triangle-racing.com. You may feel free to submit a pleading/begging/bribing essay if you feel it will help your case We like Guinness and other non-crappy beers.

Deadline for submissions is, well, whenever we have a decent pool of candidates for further interview or one just really jumps out at us. But probably no later than the end of December.

We will be racing at Lemons Rod Blagojevich Never-Say-Die 500 at Authbahn Raceway, Joliet, IL on October 23-24

TR is a fun loving group with a good team dynamic and we will be looking for candidates with the same attitudes and fit within our organization.

My buddy is on a team here for this season. I was going to do it also, but just don't have the time this year, I'm hoping next season though. I have a car here prepped and ready to race though.

I've wanted to be a part of the 24 Hours of LeMons since I read about the first one in Sport Compact Car a few years back. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time or travel money to invest in it this year... Good luck to any and all who participate!
