: driving and xterra died

so last nite i was driving home and the 01 xtterra and it just dies on me i checked all of the fuses and there all good but im not getting fire through the spark plugs im not reaaly sure what the problem is could anyone help me out?

Failed distributor shaft bearing.

I can almost guarantee it

might be distributor, crankshaft sensor, or camshaft sensor.

everything just locked up steering and everything it will turn over but want fire

I agree. The distributor's common tho, and easy to check. Just to make sure, as well, check your ground connection. It's possible for the connection at the fender to become so corroded it breaks.

pull the cap and crank it if the rotor doesn't turn the timing belt broke.how may miles?

Have you had the timing belt changed like you should have? If so I would still put money on the distributor. Even if you did not do the timing belt that is where I would start, then move on to the timing belt,water pump while you are there, thermostat, belts, hoses all of the usual suspects.

I was thinking the same thing...timing belt would be my 1st thought and spark would be my second choice.
