My 2003 Xterra was towed and when I got it back, the horn and rear view mirror that displays outside temp and direction aren't working. I've checked fuses inside car, but all look ok. They must have disconnected something so the alarm would stop. Send me yor ideas!

Hmmm, I'm not aware of a common link between the two that woudn't also affect other systems.

Does your 12v cigarette lighter socket work?

The lighter does work, I'm mostly concerned about the horn. I did check with the towing company, who swears they did nothing, but they had to disconnect something in order to get the alarm off. Forgot to mention it was towed as it was parked illegally, and they did not have a key.

Take a look at the horn and see if any wires are cut or unplugged, the temp sensor for the mirror is also right there by the grill. They may have just reached throug the grill with some wire cutteres and clipped all the wires.

As the sticker says, "Horn broke, watch for middle finger"

Finally got around to checking Anthony's suggestion. The plug leading to the horn was unplugged, connected it, and it works! Didn't see the temp sensor, but will check again, as I did this at night while using my cell phone as a flashlight. :)

Anthony, TOOT YOUR OWN HORN, you saved this chick from probably being taken for some $$ if I took it to the shop. My teenage son was very impressed that his mom went out and fixed it in like 30 seconds.

If the temp sensor was disconnected you would see OC or SC in the display. Sounds like you have a power supply problem to the mirror. Here is a diag worksheet for thre mirror so you don't have to take it to us at the stealership.

hey rusty with those part #'s can i order everything i would need to install the mirror on my 00 se X since it dont have a electronic mirror???????

I haven't installed one in an X that didn't already have it but it looks like all the parts you would need right down to the power harness. You may want take the parts list into the dealer and they can pull up a diagram to be sure.

There's two types, compass only and compas/temp sensor display. For the amount of money these parts would cost I think it would be better to go aftermarket.
