: Tires ???
midnight runner 02-15-2007, 05:26 PM Ok guys,
I know you all have your opinions so!!!
I am thinking about getting the 31/11.50 R16 super swamper ltb's. Will they fit with the X not lifted yet ? I dont mind if I have to trim a little,,f it..ya know.. I want something that is aggressive like this and it is much cheaper then BFG or Pro Comp tires. Are there any pics anywhere of a non lifted X with similar tires? Do you think it will look ok not being lifted with these tires for now, till I lift it down the road?
Thanks for any input
Anthony 02-15-2007, 05:32 PM I have them, they'll fit without lifting. But you DO NOT WANT THESE TIRES for your daily driver.
If you are putting them on a second set of rims for trail use, then you can't beat them, but DO NOT use them as road tires.
midnight runner 02-15-2007, 08:46 PM cool thnx,, i will look into second set of rims.. do they wear to fast or just too rough for the road. I see people here with SS on all sorts of trucks on the road.. But, i will look into some second ones at a junk yard hopefully cheap.
thanks for your input Anthony
Anthony 02-16-2007, 07:58 AM The LTB's are a bias tire, not a radial, and they also have a bit more aggressive tread than the other swampers. The issue with bias tires is they don't actually stay "round" so they are impossible to balance and they make for a VERY rough ride on pavement.
I don't know if snow is ever an issue for you, but they are also really bad on snow covered roads... basically no traction at all. I actually swapped my nearly bald General Grabbers back on to drive in the winter and they work better.
Now... with all that said: These tires are AMAZING offroad, especially in mud. You can run them down to like 10-12psi for rocks too. These things just grab and go!
Anthony 02-16-2007, 08:04 AM RicerX also has them... maybe he'll post up his impressions also. (hint, hint, nudge, nudge)
Ricer-X 02-16-2007, 10:44 AM Super awesome tires offroad, terrible on road, no horrible on road, but oh so fantastic offroad.
i had them on for daily driving for 2 weeks cuz im a lazy bastard, not cool.
put the street tires(goodyear silent armor) back on yesterday, now my x feels like a cadillac by comparison.
but this thread is bout the LTBs.
i couldnt believe the mud this 2wd was diggin thru with these tires.
i was thoroughly impressed with the offorad performance

midnight runner 02-16-2007, 03:24 PM Well, i wondering about them not being radials and so you cleared that up. I dont have problems with snow here in Orlando, FL .. although there is mud, swamp water and sand in most directions.
I see on 4wheelsparts that interco makes a radial now that fits most oem tire sizes. What is your impression on these?
I think most likely I am just gonna get a second set of wheels if possible, just depends on the $$$ situation ya know. I do love the look of the tire and have heard all great things except the ride is rough but are great off road
i really do appreciate the input from Anthony and Ricer.
thanks guy
Anthony 02-16-2007, 06:28 PM If you want swampers as your daily drivers, and you don't want A/T's, I'd either go with the TrXus M/T's or the SSR's.
midnight runner 02-17-2007, 05:04 PM alright.. i appreciate your help
akordboy 02-21-2007, 06:58 PM I have two sets of Super Swamper and both are/were used as my DD's. I have TSL radials and Txrus M/T's. Both are excellent on road and off road. Not sure where you got that bias tires are impossible to balance. Guess I must be the exception to the rule. :hmm:
midnight runner 02-21-2007, 08:23 PM I think he was saying that the LTB's are bias tires and if I was going to go with Super Swampers then to get the radials or the Txrus for DD.
Anthony 02-21-2007, 09:06 PM I have two sets of Super Swamper and both are/were used as my DD's. I have TSL radials and Txrus M/T's. Both are excellent on road and off road. Not sure where you got that bias tires are impossible to balance. Guess I must be the exception to the rule. :hmm:
Both of those are radials. Even with Equal in the LTB's they aren't balanced.
Ricer-X 02-22-2007, 08:29 AM Theres also belted bias.
but with the full bias tires i think they call the 'not roundness' "square tire" or somethign
Muzikman 02-22-2007, 09:22 AM I would avoid any SS's (even the txrus) as a DD tire unless you like replacing tires at 20K mile intervals.
Supermanx06 02-23-2007, 03:21 PM Any opinions on the Nitto Mud Grapplers?? I'm about to put them on my X... Mind you, I'll not be climbing any boulders any time soon.
Anthony 02-23-2007, 03:34 PM I've heard nothing but good things about them. (other than the price)
