Tell us about why you chose a "X" as your vehicle

Me; I had been noticing xterras going down the road, and liked the ride height clearance, and knew I would need a replacement vehicle someday, so I started watching for a used one and got disappointed at the selection around here because they werent that popular around here, then I discovered that only about a third of them were 4x4, which I needed, so I went to look at new 04's in Jan 05. The only new ones were 2wd or colors I didn't like, they had two used ones; a taxi yellow and the granite 4x4 04 supercharged with every option available, plus about $2k worth of add ons the first owner had purchased, well after I drove it and cranked the 300 watt (thats a lot for an old fart) rockford fosgate up, I knew I would be settling for anything else, I should have waited for the 05's, had I known they were getting a makeover and probably wouldn't have cost that much more....I also like the size, you feel like you are in a full size vehicle but it still goes in the garage :)

well, when i wrecked my civic hatch, at first i wanted some little zippy car and was looking at the sentra se r vspec. but its ugly. so later that day i saw an xterra drivin down the road and instantly know thats what id be buying. went to check them out, they are very versitile, have an aggressive stance appearing more agile than most. fell in love with the canteen color, i felt it flowed qith the plastic body parts. also immediatle y realized what the plastic bldy parts were for, no paint for brush to scratch. handles great, slightly underpowered, but that is easily remedied, im pretty close to where i want to be powerwise. the LSD really caught my eye since i was purchasing a 4x2 cause i couldnt justify the extra cost, i had no idea id get so into wheelin it. i am however extremely satisfied my decision, and wouldnt have anything else.

Me,

My 94 full sized Bronco was on its last leg at 190K miles. I needed a winter 4X4 and since I own a house, I also need a truck to go to Home Depot & Lowes for stuff. My sports car is 2 3/4 inches off the ground, 300HP and rear wheel drive. It wouldnt make it 3 feet in the snow so I shopped around. My wife mentioned the X and after noticing it had 265 HP, I was hooked. I began noticing them on the road and they looked pretty cool. So we went into Nissan and test drove a few, and decided on the white SE they had on the showroom floor.

There's not too many places to go off roading in metro NY, but if I ever do find one, I'll make sure to give it a shot.

I was driving a 96 gmc suburban up until the engine went . The year prior to that the rear went then the transmission all in all I probably put about $7000 into the damn thing in year. My entire adult life I have had GM trucks ,and spent the majority of the time owning them fixing something. How many times do you have to get kicked in the nuts before you give up ?

I can answer my own question for about 15 years . I bought my 05 S and cant say how happy and impressed I am with my xterra . Aside from the difference in cargo and passenger room the xterra is superior in every way. Gas mileage is something I have heard complaints about but its near twice the suburbans mileage. It handles better in the snow and rain and is a hell of alot more fun to drive , not to mention park.

Its only been a few months in my X but I am sold and you will never catch me driving A GM again.

I got my first brandspankinnew truck back in '02. It was a Mazda B3000 2WD . It was a great little truck but I was sick of being towed out of different spots that we would go diving at.( Rockwater can tell you all about it He's towed me a couple of times.) So this past summer I saw a deal on an '02Xterra that I just couldn't pass up on. The owner had treated her like gold, never off-road and had her undercoated and rust proofed in all the nook and crannies. As for the interior she was mint. It sorta broke my heart to get rid of the little truck but once I put the X in 4x4 and went off road I was a changed man. My fiance liked the fact that i wouldn't have to get towed anymore :D aswell as more room for all our dive gear that didn't get cold out back .

Taylor.

This post, in a nutshell, defines my feelings towards American cars in general. I've had the same past experiences with mostly cars and to say that American car manufacturer quality & longevity is subpar would sadly be an understatement.

There's always an exception to the rule.....

I predominantly meant cars. My truck was good and it lasted a long time with few problems, but at 190K it just flat out died.
