i measured the front from floor to wheel well and it gave me 33 3/4 evenly both sides so after i raised the rear with the shackles the rear gave me 37 so i cranked the fronts 1.5'' to equal the rear...now im at ReaR: 37'' and front 35''....is this right?? or do i even out all 4 corners to 37''???

sorry if this is asked over and over again....any help is appreciated....

as long asyou still have the proper amout of space on the bumpstops then you cand go to match. mine was the same height, but since i put the 3'' lift from ac and kept my long shackles on it, the rear is now 1.5" to high so i am going to put back the factory shackles and order a set from ac that are just a little bit longer than factory.witch iss what ricer-x has

Hello, The back should be a little higher. Why? Because you load your X the front lights will not shoot to the sky.

Most Xterra's are built that way. Is 2 inch to much or to little in difference...depends on how stiff the rear spring set-up is.

Try load back of your X with about the average size loads (heavy) and see how much is dips in the back. (some people like the front high look).

A slightly higher back is what you may want to achieved........Aloha

You do want the back higher than the front, but it has nothing at all to do with where the headlights point. (They are adjustable anyway).

The reason for keeping the "raked" stance is to maintain the stock steering geometry.

Dudes! You guys have to realize that the clearance on the front is SHOULD be the same floor to lip as the rear.

I am talking about 1st generations. All too often everyone goest from the height from the ground to the wheel well and judges off of that.

What almost 99% of you do not realize is that the wheel well is about an inch higher in the front than it is in the rear. Look at the body line and see for yourself.

So...with this said, to acheive a 1" rake, you want them even in the front and back because the front clearance is already 1" higher.

If you want it even, put the front up an inch above rear clearance,

If you want a 2 inch rake, droop the front one inch.

Get it? BTW I am talking about 1st generation.

WHY NOT MEASURE FROM THE FRAME TO THE GROUND INSTEAD?
looking at the body line isnt accurate at all
the frame dosent curve up or down, is not round, thats the place to do it from
now, unless you can give me exact differences btw the front and back from exact specific mearuring points then its not accurate enough to measure what we are talking about.
frame is the plce to measure from, on a flat surface, of course you cant measure bumper to bumper at the frame, but thru simple calculations you can basicallty extrude the frame line and know the measurement at the exact point you want to measure it from

good use of "extrude" there ricer. not one you see everyday...

I agree, excellent use of extrude. But you can't really use the frame either. Most people do it at the wheel wells, which is off by an inch like I was saying.

Doing it from the frame would also be inaccurate because there would be no place to measure it from up front. You could go from the front and rear door but still would not get an accurate 1" rake that is usually obtained from measuring at the wells.

I say keep on using the wells because you can get a centerpoint through the hubs, but just keep in mind that the front fender trim already sits an inch higher than the rear, so when you are even (inchwise front to rear), you have that one inch rake. :)
