json3904 02-11-2007, 07:50 PM well riceman and myself started on my lift last night, genius (ricer) caught hell getting the ball joint off of the pass side, then when we got to the drivers side another friend took the hammer from ricer, and hit it a couple of times and it fell right off. around midnight we had his neigbor outside saying we were to loud, she then asked if we minded taking it inside. ricer almost said the obvious but held his toung, i was thinking the samething, but also didnt say anything, ok if your neigbors are making alot of noise, and you go outside and there is tools everywhere and the front end of a truck is pulled apart, would you ask if you could take it inside??????? LMAO anyway we finally finished around 5 today, and my trip home was alright the only thing that bugs me is when i take off the rear end wiggles a little.. ricer said his also dose the same thing, is it the rear drive shaft in a small bind when you first take off or what?????????? the steering stabilizer was easy to installl, ball joint spacers were a snap, rear spring were a snap, the only bad thing that happoned today was since i was on call, my job tried getting ahold of me and since my phone was dead they were already pissed, then when i told them i was in houston which is 60 miles away from my job they wrote me up for not showing up. but oh well i got my lift installed and im happy.

json3904 02-11-2007, 08:00 PM my wife is going to upload them to photobucket tonoght and i will post either tonight or tommorow. AC said 18-24 hrs but if ricer and myself would of quit stopping we could of had it done in 5-6hrs. we had the frontend apart and almost put back together in about 2 hrs. also i ordered a second tow hook for my drivers side and when i went to bolt it up the holes were there but the nuts wernt there like on the other side (like AC said it would bolt up, so instead i gave it to ricer since he didnt have one at all!!!!
json3904 02-11-2007, 08:02 PM another thing is that since the leaf spring are new my ass end sits real high and it should level out. so the pics are not what i will look like after they settle. but i still like it.
json3904 02-11-2007, 09:27 PM here are some pics till i upload the rest to photobucket.
Ricer-X 02-12-2007, 06:16 AM yea that was fun,
i thought about it and with all the boolsheeting we finished and cleaned up in 14hours, my back hurts.... alot. didnt hurt like this when i lifted mine.
and last time i did all the work myself with the assistance of someone who was more counter productive than productive and took me 22hours. who knows...
i enjoyed it, and would do it again.... just, not yet.

Anthony 02-12-2007, 07:48 AM Looks good! But those tires look small now!
Muzikman 02-12-2007, 10:40 AM A "wiggle" doesn't sound right. If you get a vibration at speed that would be the pinion angle. But a "wiggle" almost sounds like something is loose.
unclehardrock 02-12-2007, 12:41 PM looks pretty sweet man, nice work. i agree with anthony- i think the next thing on your wish list should be some new tires. you've definitely got the space for them, so throw them on there and show off the x.

json3904 02-12-2007, 10:40 PM well i removed the calmini shackles and it helped alot, the rear end is not as high up. now with the 3 leaf pack i put on do i need to just leave the factory shackles or can i add another pair other than the calmini??????? also with just the stock will i still get good flex????? ricer-x has the single leaf and he put the shackles form ac and it sits fine.
Anthony 02-13-2007, 09:16 AM You can use the stock or go with 1" lift shackles from AC
json3904 02-13-2007, 07:22 PM i went with the stock for now but i might end up going with AC later. here pretty soon im going to try to even out the racke some, i looked at the bump stops and i have about a 1" clearence so im going to bring it to about a 1/2" so it will even out the truck some....... and just so yall know the sterring stabilizer really dont make a diff. while on the street, so when i try it offroad agine i will let yall know if it jerks still.

json3904 02-18-2007, 07:11 PM heres one for you anthony. well i got back from my little trip about a hr ago and damn, My ride was all over the place and i dont know why. the handeling was good but when you were going down the road the X would just be real hard to control any little diffrence in the road and it would pull real bad, my wife drove for about a hr and said she didnt like it and had me drive the rest of the way...... i called ricer and he said his dont act like that, he told me to widen the stance eith some wheel spacers and it should help, or do you think it is the sterring stabelizer??????? i dont know any suggestions would be appreciated
Ricer-X 02-19-2007, 09:50 AM The only differences wtw our truck are
front facia
you have steering stabilizer
i have 1.5" wheel spacers
you have 3pack aal
i have single aal
i have goodyear silent armor tires
you have whatever tires
you have 4 lights on the roof mounted higher than my 2
im leaning towards the spacers(or lack of) being the cause, i really dont think there is any other difference between our rides that could alter the stability of the vehicl that much.
you raised you CG 3"
i raised my CG 3" and widened the stance 3"
and by the way, do you remember where you put that grease gun in my garage?
Anthony 02-19-2007, 10:57 AM Did you get an alignment after the install???
Ricer-X 02-19-2007, 12:19 PM I Believe He Did
json3904 02-19-2007, 04:52 PM yes i got a alignment and the guy said that he had never seen a truck lifted with the t-bar and he didnt think it was the right way to lift it and i just turned away. and ricer i put it next to the pile of tools in your garage or at least i think i did.... the spacers are 6x5.5 right???????? big boar
Anthony 02-19-2007, 04:58 PM I'm not sure why it would feel unstable if it is aligned properly. There are tons of people with lifted X's and no wheel spacers, and I'm not aware of any stability problems...
I'm hoping TJ will sign on soon and read this, because he's better at the technical stuff than I am.
json3904 02-19-2007, 05:04 PM i know its frusterating i am just a little worried cause my wife uses it while i am at work, and carries my daughter around in it..... so it dont bother me when i drive cause i know what it is going to do but you know what i mean.....
json3904 02-19-2007, 05:06 PM would a center bore of 4.25" work on the X
rusty_nuts 02-19-2007, 08:37 PM Get the alignment checked by another garage. Your caster is WAY off!!! Caster is the forward or rearward tilt of the line between your upper and lower ball joints. I would bet you have excessive negative caster meaning your upper ball joint is too far forward.
Muzikman 02-20-2007, 09:25 AM Get an alignment ASAP.
Don't get spacers unless you really need them. They are not going to help your problem and they cause more problems than they are worth.
The steering stabilizer is probably helping more than it's hurting.
I would also check all bolts for the proper torque. Too tight is just as bad as too loose.
If you still have problems after the alignment, I would look at the ball joints. I don't know if they were replaced, but you might have a bad one.
json3904 02-20-2007, 10:24 PM both the ball joints were replaced do to the new UCA's and i will take it to a diffrent garage to get it looked at, thanks
json3904 01-18-2008, 07:18 AM i guess i never replied back to this post..... after i took it to a diffrent shop i found out that the first shop didnt do anything to it and charged me $75..... after the second alignment everything was great.... the guy told me that he couldnt get it perfect due to there not being enough clearence (sp) for the bump stop, and that if i could raise it a little more he could proab get it right.... I never did LOL
soccerbrace 01-18-2008, 08:47 AM Thanks for the 11 month follow up Jason ;) Lol
json3904 01-18-2008, 09:03 AM had to make sure i was right about the follow up.... LOL
didnt want to mislead anyone with a bad follow up....
