Hey guys,
just bought a 2002 X and it has the single disc player...it wont play my burned discs, I bought CD-R style discs.
Just curious can they play burnt discs at all?? or am I just screwed???
If I'm screwed, I'm putting in an aftermarket system ASAP

What are you using to burn the discs? Does any other CD player you have play the burnt discs?
Are you burning them as Audio or MP3?
I have a 2002 with a 6 disc changer and I burnt an Allman Brothers disc yesterday and it played just fine. I burned another blues album a month ago and it was alright as well. Both were from MP3 converted to CD audio image and burned using ImgBurn (I wouldn't suggest the software, it's got a learning curve to it). I used memorex CD-Rs.
EDIT: A lot of CD players nowadays have the ability to play MP3 audio from a CD. To check to see if you burned it as an Audio CD (not to insult your intelligence or computer prowess just as a double check) when you insert your burned CD into your CD drive does it call the CD an audio CD?

I'm using windows media player, when I click on properties it says "audio"
I'm not super computer smart or anything, I'll mess around with it tomorrow...maybe I just need different discs.
The guy at WalMart said the discs should work in everything, said he used them himself...I dont know whats goin on.
I just know most people have the 6-disc changer, hoping the single disc can play burnt discs.

Your discs won't be your problem most likely. It will either be the way you burned your CD or the CD player itself.
What are using to burn your CD? Also open up your My Computer and look at your CD drive with your CD in it. Does it say Audio CD? When you burn your CD do opt to close the session?
Lots of different things can cause this breakdown. Maybe somebody has some insight on the single disc CD player capabilities.

Well...let me find another program that will let you burn the discs my way so we can be on the same page. I will post tomorrow with a write up on how I do it (or would do it, using less techincal software). Frankly I am too drunk to work on it tonight. Been a good veterans day.

Nevermind, disregard this post...I just remembered Windows Media Player gets a glich sometimes. You have to close it and re-open it, the CD's work fine now. Thanks for the input and help though!
