Hello all. I am NOT an Xterra owner, but have been seriously considering one. I have a few questions that I hope some of you can help with. I am leaning towards the Off Road model, as I like the interior material a little better, and I also like the wheels. I don't do a lot of hardcore offroading (actually none), so I was wondering if the ride is very much different in the Off Road compared to an SE model?? I am used to fairly stiff suspensions and have had trucks and suv's in the past. My last 2 cars have had the sportier (supposedly stiffer) suspension, and I have not had a problem with ride quality. I'm just wondering, as some of the reviews have said the OR rides a lot stiffer. Another question....overall, how comfortable are the seats? Is this a very comfortable vehicle for longer drives? We just took our Armada from Colorado to Calif over the holidays and that thing really rode nicely. In fact that is part of the reason I am considering the Xterra. My current car is a 5 series BMW. It is a great car, and drives like no other, however the recent Colorado weather is really stressing that this is not a good winter vehicle. The car actually does pretty well in the snow with a good set of snow tires.....but what is killing me (welll the car) now is the ground clearance from all the snow we've had.

Anyway..I'm going to try to get some time to go for a test drive to see some of this for myself, but wanted to get some "real world" input.

Thanks in advance for any info!!

I have an 07 OR. The seats are comfy for long drives (I did Dallas-Austin with no problems), and the suspension doesn't seem to be substantially stiffer than stock, at least for "on the road" driving. I'm coming from a 00 Honda Accord, and a 97 Acura Integra before that.

I did find out that almost all OR models have the Rockford-Fosgate sound system. Also, I have the 6-speed, and love it.

The suspension is the same on all 05+ X's, the only difference is the shocks. They are slightly stiffer, but not by much (not enough to feel honestly).

So the feel of the ride is pretty much all the same.

I too like the seat fabric on the OR models better. It seems to be a lot more durable.

I have an 05 se I have taken it on several long trips, never had any issues with comfort. The truck is stiff but no stiffer than any other truck I've had.

The OR is the way to go...it has a rear locker which adds unbelievable traction.

Everyone I know who has one loves it.

Enjoy!

Thanks all for you feedback. I need to try to make some time to get to the dealer and go drive one!! Hopefully can work out a deal. I think the low interest rates are good through 1/31.

I think once you drive one you will be hooked! That's all it took for me.
