Well I think i have decided to gradually build up the X rather than go full blown suspension/body lift etc right away. From what I have been reading people seem really pleased with the X stock. I was wondering if you were to just upgrade the shocks what ones would you guys go with? I have been looking at the Bilstein Heavy Duty shocks. Let me know wha tyou guys think and recommend?

thanks for the reply ricer x! I have been looking at them and the only thing that kept me from buying them is a little sentence from bilstein saying they could be used for occasional offroading.
That's because the one's you should be looking at were the Bilstein 5100's, not the HD's.
:D
The HD's have 9" of travel, the 5100's (For the 3" SL) have 10" of travel...which, due to the involved geometries, adds SEVERAL inches of travel at the tires, and, it adds better valving and durability for off road use.
I'm emphasizing that the 5100's for the 3" lift are the one's you want...as they compress short enough to even work on a stock (UNLIFTED) truck...a nice bonus, as you would not need new ones if you ever lifted, and while waiting...you get all the wheel travel of the lifted X's, w/o the lift.

lol oops oh well too late its all good though i will just use em until the truck wears them out or i decide to lift the x
The Bils have a lifetime warrenty...so you are actually better off selling them now, and getting the one's you want....they don't really wear out in the time frame you are probably willing to wait.
