Well I was able to get the antenna connector that I needed and finished up the install of a Pioneer AVH-P4100 DVD this afternoon in our 08 Xterra S. The stereo sounds good, but I have 2 issues:
1) The VDC OFF and SLIP dash lights will not go off
2) The unit is having trouble reading the ipod. The message unreadable format is displayed on the screen. I will call Pioneer on monday.
Any ideas about the dash light issue?

Well it looks like my issue may have occurred because I disconnected the battery or at least that was 1 possibility from the manual. I will have to try and reset it.

Maybe this will help with the Ipod issues.
iPod Direct Control with Video: The Pioneer CD-IU200V iPod adapter (item number 130IU200V, sold separately) permits direct control, audio/video playback, and charging of your iPod through the Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD Multimedia Headunit's rear-panel USB and AV 3.5mm input. The Pioneer CD-IU200V allows the Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD Multimedia Headunit to support the following iPods or iPhones - iPod fifth generation (version 1.3.0), iPod nano first generation (version 1.3.1), iPod nano second generation (version 1.1.3), iPod nano third/fourth generation (version 1.1.3), iPod classic 80/120/160GB (version 1.1.2), iPod touch first/second generation (version 2.0), iPhone/iPhone 3G (version 2.0). The Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD can be connected with an iPod via this dedicated adapter by attaching the cable's USB type-A and 3.5mm minijack connector to the headunit's rear panel USB and AV auxiliary ports and plugging the cable's dock connector into your iPod's dock connection. You can choose to control your iPod from the AVH-P4100DVD or the iPod, itself. Using the touch panel or soft keys of the AVH-P4100DVD, you can play iPod-recorded songs with the following convenient functions.
* Text Information Display: Song/album titles, artist names, and track length are conveniently displayed on the monitor display. This capability also permits multiple "search" functions, making it a snap to find a song to play back.
* Multiple Search Functions: Just like looking for files stored on a PC, iPod-recorded songs may be sorted according to registered playlists, genres, artists, or albums to ensure easy access to each music file.
* Repeat Playback: The Repeat Playback function offers two options - repeat playing of a particular song or playback of all tunes from a specified playlist.
* Shuffle Songs: Shuffle Songs randomly plays the songs in your iPod's music library.
Note: If you do not need video playback from your compatible iPod, you can use the Pioneer CD-IU50 USB interface cable (sold separately) or the USB/iPod Dock cable that comes with your iPod to play back audio only, control, and charge your iPod through the AVH-P4100DVD.

Thanks for all the info. The dash lights are off and the ipod controller does work. Looks like I may need a new ipod!
