i've been looking into getting some calmini shackles for my 05 x and cranking down the torsion bars to get a little more lift out of my x. my question for you guys who have done this is how hard of a job it is to do? is it something that i would be able to do in my garage at home with a floor jack and a couple of jack stands? i'm not too worried about the shackles, but how do you get at the torsion bars on the front? or would i be better off swapping out the control arms as well? i know i will need to get an alignment after the mod is done. any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated. i love my x, just want to make it look a little meaner by sitting up a littler higher, and allowing myself to get some bigger tires a little further down the line. thanks-

if thats your x in the avatar, i dont believe you have torsion bars, but coils instead, in which case you need to buy spacers

Correct.
Poke around a bit. I covered most of the lift options for the 05+ X's recently.

thanks guys....that's the info i was looking for. for you guys that have done this type of mod, is it something that an average do-it-yourselfer can pull off at home, minus the alignment, obviously? i have all the necessary tools and jacks, and have access to lifts and air tools at the hobby shop on base here as well if i really needed it. ijust don't want to get into a project that i can't handle and wind up with my x in pieces in my garage and no way to get it back on the road
thanks again-

Putting the spacers in is very easy if you have some understanding of working on cars. I think if you can change your oil and brakes, you can install a spacer lift.
