Well guys its been awhile since Ive done any posting on here so I figure I should post up what I have been spending most of my time and damn near all of my money on.... the last wheeling trip I went on with my former trail rig led to some catastrophic engine problems and led to its demise.

Anyway I sold my tiny 34s to buy some new rims and rubber...
The tires for my new rig will be blinging straight ghetto style lol 24" rims but sorry guys these wont be retarded with spinners there tractor rims with 8 lug centers so I can use a 9.5-24 V tread tractor tire which is roughly 42" tall with more grip than cut bogger.
The new rig itself is a revived IMCA dirt modified that I saved from going to the crusher and giving a new lease on life. Its a Ford torino stub chassis that is gettin my Dana44 front axle on leaf springs with a 9" shackle while the rear is gettin the Dana60 from the Ranger leaf sprung as well both geared with 4:10 gears and the rear is welded.

now with both axles under it.

Ive made a little more progess cutting away some of the old tubing and replacing it with more appropriate stuff and also I got the fuel tank mounted in the back. Just for kicks Im using a Miller 16 gallon Keg layed down horizontally under the rear kickers. Ive also decided Im going to use a pretty much bone stock, for now Im strapped for cash as it is, 350 chevy powerplant with a 700r4 trans and transfer case but Im going to put a Ford divorced case behind them so I can turn the 42"s with only a 4:10 gear. it sucks that its a chevy but the Nissan motor I had planned to use was snatched up by someone before I could afford it.
I havent figured out what to name this rig yet though...

lol no problem guys an 42"s are still small when compared to the group I run with but they shoul be killer no less I could prolly fit 44"s but i would like to stay as low as possible.

Gotta love my fuel cell lol Miller lite keg. Rear suspension is a 3/4 eliptical leaf spring setup and front is basic leaf springs for now Im debating on going coil and some long radius arms instead. Engine has been found basic setup 350/700r4 but I either have to get a divorced case or an s10 transfer case to get the drivers drop I need. Wheelbase is 118"

Its odd looking no doubt its low cab height and long frame arent the norm with "Rock Bouncers" but Its not the looks that matter the cage is all 1.75" DOM tubing its plenty strong and my crappy rolling tires look terrible. I have to do a terrible amount of grinding yet to smooth off where all the extra tubes were that I cut off as well as about 50 joints that need gussets yet.

you need guides for the 3/4 elliptical or else the springs will walk out on you. also an antiwrap bar and a limiting strap will help stop the the tires from walking forward.

this is what happened to my friends rig without a limiting strap and no antiwrap bar

Was debating on an antiwrap bar anyway but thanks for the heads up. I wasnt sure if it would walk out that far or not.

you need to stop it from going side to side and forward

Well hell by the time I end up with all the rod ends needed it might be easier to do the one link I wanted to do in the first place.... Might be time to go back to the drawing board suspension wise.

I figure I should update this but its been awhile and I have decided to go a different direction boys. I cut the front clip off the chassis and gutted everything and its now resting in the backyard for a year so my current project takes priority. Instead of starting a new thread Ill just continue this one b/c the final goal is to have this cage and rear frame section sittin on the frame of my 86 chevy 4x4.

Started with my gfs former transportation a rust bucket old 86 Chevy you could almost see through but it has a 350(descent) 700r4(works but if it goes will get a th350) and np208(Ive never personally had problems with). Axles are just stock order 10 bolts as of now and they will stay that way for a bit bc I dont plan on spending any more money on this than needed. Rear will be welded and shortened approximately 22" to help with tight technical trails overall wheelbase should be around 110-115". Overload spring will be chucked from the rear pack and shocks mounted atop the axle at a 45 to the center of the frame on a new crossmember. Tires have been mounted (no pics yet will try soon) and they are 9.5-16 R1 tread tractor tires that are 34" tall true height which isnt very tall but my last truck got around descent with 33s locked up and larger diffs so I am gaining ground clearence over what Im used to with only minimal loss in axle strength. I like this project and it suits me ugly but effective and this truck its going to be the learning tool for my gf which has never been offroad until I took her for her first trip. I expect much mayhem and body damage and catastrophic breakage in the future stay tuned. Now for some pics of the initial destruction.
Gave her the choice of removing the bed the proper way or with a torch and log chain... guess which one she picked.
