The kids started getting into trouble today so I took them for a little "outting". My son took the camera and did his thing, and here's what we came back with.

I swear that if I ever see anyone post "A lift kit doesn't give you more lift, only bigger tires do", then I'm going to point them to this thread. - hehe :D

looks good!

B'guard was just mere inches from hitting that steep incline....

Does that b'guard have a tow hole underneath it for strapping...am I seeing that right?

Yep, it was about 2" exactly. I could've articulated around it but I was trying to show the angle of approach that's available.

Those are built in recovery hooks. They are solid steel and far stronger than the OEM Tow Hooks. They have acutually supported the weight of the entire front end with the front wheels totally off the ground on a trail I went on a few years ago. I love 'em, they are the best part of the whole grille guard. :D

So would the b'guard actually sustain light to moderate damage without multiplying the damage factor like Xterra's b'guards do since the b'guard on your Armada is straight to the frame with those reinforced tow points?

Yep pretty much.... I took a chip out of one of those big concrete barriers down at Sea World in San Antonio and it didn't even scratch the paint on the Brush Guard. I just scraped off the yellow paint and it looks good as new.

The ones where I was are really short and there's alot of trees on some that I had to avoid. Logan01X knows where some good ones are, we should get together with him sometime. My problem is that it's hard for me to plan too far ahead because I always have stuff coming up that I need to do (honey do's).

sweet!

now,a bout your lift comment, since you have IFS and IRS when YOU do a suspension lift it does actually raise everything up

however :) if you had a solid axle in the back like the xterra has, then a SL wouldnt lift that any higher only bigger tires would

had to, lol

but that a good lookin truck you got there man, its been a while since if seen any new pix of it

Actually Dustin, that's not so true. Alot of folks are saying the same thing about the Titan because of the lift kits having a drop carrier bracket for the front like in this pic below.

Also, keep in mind that my IRS was not lifted, it's actually at stock height and bracketed above to drop it down. So it's really alot more like a BL in the rear than I'd like to admit. This is really not any different than lifting an SFS / SRS because of the way the lifts are designed.

My answer always has been and always will be "as long as you run your tires over anything that might hit, the lift helps plenty". :D

LOL

Looks like a fun dirt road.

:P

Anyway - I never heard any one say only tires lift you.

What I DO know, is that a suspension lift in of itself doesn't make room for LARGER TIRES, except at ride height, etc.....as the tires will still hit what ever they would have on stuffage, etc.

And - that Larger tires lift the diff and axles on live axles, whereas a SL doesn't.

On IFS, as the track is narrowed and the tires swing inward and down, the diff clearance is increased even with the same tires....but, also reduced on stuffage, etc.

As you have F/R Ind Susp - You DO lift the diffs with the SL, but, if the terrain is uneven, that ground clearance is varied as the suspension articulates.

If you have larger tires, the difference is constant for the tire clearance...but varied for the suspension clearance.

That's why BOTH tires and suspension are useful off road...you get the best of both worlds.

:D

Actually TJ, both my diffs are dropped. The front diff is unbolted from the OEM brackets and is relocated 6" down and bolts inside the drop bracket. The rear diff is dropped down about 4.5" from its original position.

If they were left in OEM position, then it would be impossible to get the camber correct while preventing the axles from sliding out of the flanges on the diffs. Relocating them down and angling the differential so the shaft still enters the pinion at close to the same as OEM angle prevents needing to extend or brace the drive shafts. :D

The SAWs allowed me to remove my front sway bar so I'm able to get a little better than OEM articulation.

Thanks for the compliments guys!!!! :urock:
