Hi,
I am currently installing subs in an exterra and i have ran into a few problems. I cannot seem to figure out a way to remove the stock radio. Wondering if someone could help me with this. Also I am wanting to use the stock radio if its possible. If anyone has any suggestions on wiring, that would help alot. I am wanting to get all this done by tommorow or so. Well thats about it for now. The subs are infinity 1252 12" dual voice coil, kicker amp (not that great of one), walmart wiring kit.
Thanks in advance!

i didnt install mine ricer-x but by looking at the stock radio i believe it has 4 screws holding it in but as to how to take off the plastics around it just look for screws in hidden places they like to hide them out of site, but also keep in mind that alot of the plastics are held in by clips that you pull apart but dont be forcefull with them cause they are plastic and they can break. i will look at my plastics around my radio in the morning and try to post befor i go to work if you havent already figured it out. just keep in mind be carefull dont break the clips......

ok heres a hint if ur using the stock radio, go but an in line converter or somethin of name close, use ur rear speakers, slipce speacker wire into both sides and run the one from the right over into the alcove underneath the left speaker, here is where ull keep the line converter thing conncected to the speaker wire. this thing allows you to go from speaker wire to RCA. then run rcas from there to wherever ur amp is gonna be run ur power, grd, and remote and ur golden.. did it in my 01

i just finished doing this and the radio is held in by 4 star bit screws holding the bracket in and 4 holding the bracket to the radio.. as for using the stock radio i wouldnt but if u really wanted to u need a converter like previously stated. i also found the best way to run the power wires is through the rubber grommet for the fuel pump into the cab and under the passenger seat. These vehicles have awesome accoustics i put 2 12s and a 1200 watt amp in my 02 and its bordderline to much bump. however if u stand outside the car your going to hear the hatch rattle and i still havent figured out how to get that to quit.

Those "star bits" are called torx screws. You need a t-25 torx driver, or a torx bit on a 1/4" nut driver to get that off. Look in the HOW TO's to get the plastics off, it have been covered many many many times.
