Whats up, I've got a 2006 Xterra and I was wondering what the best intake is to throw on my truck is, Taking into consideration that I do a lot of snow, puddle, and dirt driving. Thanks

Welcome !

I would suggest the Volant. I don't have it, but it appears to offer the best protection from dirt and water.

I have the K&N with 18,000 miles on it, never had a problem yet.

some other sites talk very badly about K&N dropin, but ive always liked them. I just put a K&N dropin in mine yesterday. Can't say I noticed anything tho..

I have the K+N drop in filter, and I don't particularly like it. I think I may go back to paper or the amsoil filter

I run the stock filter in my X and took out the K&N drop in that came in my Rubi and replaced it with paper. I then carry a spare filter with me for those "too deep" mud puddles. :)

I also carry a spare paper filter, but I'm considering using the K+N as the spare, haha

I think it's actually making my MPG worse than stock. I'm gonna switch back to paper and see if it improves.

I could beleive that for sure. I noticed the same thing on my 77 Celica GT. (Ive been using K&N since i was 16) It let in a lot more air with my Weber carb, and i noticed the gas dropping quick..

man why'd you have to enlighten me.... i swear to god my 1st half tank this time seems to have gone faster..

now i gotta consider taking it out.. waste of $50 I guess.. but thanks for your input. ;)

Hello, Lots of people have been saying that (K&N) filters gives more air to the engine but also gets less mileage per gallon.

Does this means more AIR is bad for MPG for our Xterra's. Does this also means less air is BETTER for MPG's?

Then after market brands that claims increase air to your engines (any brands) is NOT good for MPG's?

I do notice's a difference in performance (a little better) with the K&N filters.

If less mileage? How much are you talking about? .........Aloha

ECU's are adaptive. More air coming in via K&N then needs more fuel to match the mix.
