dezurtrat 09-20-2009, 01:52 AM Shotgun!
Silver Dude 09-20-2009, 02:10 AM What are you looking at stock replacements or tires with tread?
recon 09-20-2009, 02:15 AM a security system isnt going to stop someone from slashing your tires.
modxterra 09-20-2009, 07:25 AM Neither is any kind of sidewall. Maybe you pissed somebody off?
Xterra Mike 09-20-2009, 11:05 AM A baseball bat
Roschili 09-20-2009, 12:06 PM Dude, you need a trunk monkey...
And look at the BFG AT KOs. Everyone seems to like them and the price isn't outrageous.
TN4x4Xterra 09-20-2009, 02:36 PM Agreed with Roschili, BFG AT K/Os are good price....
Alpha 09-20-2009, 03:49 PM Looks like you have some haters, nothing a 12 gage cant handle :D
Pro Comp has a buy 3 get 1 free offer now, those last a long time.
I personally like Dick Cepek, they are pricey but have great grip and wear.
Whatever you get, might as well get a bigger size, but more importantly make sure its a 3-ply sidewall. (not that itll prevent someone slashing your tires, they are good for the trail)
East Bay Rider 09-20-2009, 08:47 PM You need a dog. A big dog.
ProComp AT 265/75R16 come in load range E with heavy sidewalls.
Good luck in your search. Good luck with the vandalism.
Heavus 09-20-2009, 11:59 PM Maxxis Bighorn
Alpha 09-21-2009, 01:31 PM Maxxis Bighorn
I've actually considered this tire but I've heard it's got weak sidewalls, do you know if its at least a 3-ply?
Cheers :D

A garage?
bluex 09-21-2009, 07:21 PM Goodyear MTRs w/ the Kevlar...have them on my rig and I love them. They do great every where!!
Heavus 09-22-2009, 02:18 AM I'm not sure. I really like mine. They look good and i never slip or get stuck. I would recommend them for your first "upgrade" if you just have stock.

P4WOR reviewe the Maxxis Bighorn and said they were in the top three mud tires right now.
The other tires I was considering were the Truxxus M/T and the Pro Comp Xteme M/T. The truxxus is a 2-ply so its out of the question, and the pro comp is ridiculously expensive for 17" rims and the actual height is shorter than advertised.
I liked maxxis because actual height/width is greater than advertised and they have very aggressive side lugs.
Right now Im running 33x12.5 All Terrains but I am switching back to my 32" mud terrains this week. I think Im just going to put the MTs I have back on and just armor up until I need a new set of tires.
Thanks and cheers,
jasonk 09-22-2009, 11:09 PM you need to get even....and +2 on the trunk monkey.
Was it random or do you think someone has it in for you. If it's the latter I'd put some kind of camera on your ride and nip this in the bud. If random, I suppose you could just move on and hope for the best.

Got any ideas for cameras without draining battery in the X?
json3904 09-23-2009, 12:05 AM was it at your house???? if so you could go get a feeder camera and it will take pics upon movement...

that's what I was thinking....i would think you'd know if it was someone who deliberately slashed YOUR tires. Like if you are sleeping with a married woman or you got into a bar fight last week etc. If that is the case then you park the thing in front of a camera. The bad part is that the feeder cameras usually flash so I'm guessing the camera if set up outside would also be taken out. I don't know if it would work from inside the X. Even if it did you might be asking the culprit to break into the X to get the camera.
