Hey all,
I bought my 05 Xterra just about a year ago and love it! As a professional horsewoman, with two dogs...my Xterra has become a barn on wheels. I drive all over to train horses and teach lessons. I love the no fuss, no muss interior.
It's a multi-use vehicle with a great ride. I throw bicycles and a kayak on top and as a decorative painter (as well as a horse pro) there are often ladders, 5 gallon paint buckets, and tons of other supplies piled into the back.
What a great practical vehicle!

I am seriously considering ditching my big horse rig (dually and 22' horse trailer) for a two horse trailer for the Xterra to pull.
Anybody ever pulled a horse trailer with horses loaded? The weight limit is 5k which is doable with an aluminum trailer but I am wondering how the live weight feels.
After the dually, I am afraid the Xterra would feel like a lightweight!
Thanks,

I've never towed a horse trailer before, but I did tow my loaded IHC Scout with a F150. That's over 5500 lbs behind a vehicle under 4000 lbs, and you have to be careful braking in corners, but that's about it.

Any weight in the rear of the towing vehicle helps a lot.

Thanks...that helps some. I have pulled horse trailers with a 1/2 ton pick up and agree on the weight in the back. I was just wondering how the X does.

hi. Definetly you will experience a different ride quality with the X. Going straight will be an ease but corners will need more control and lower speeds than the dually. If you intend to tow frequently it is better to stick with the dually. The X is a good performer but horse trailers is for another league. You can do it but that the necessary precautions. Just go alot slower than you are used to.
Have fun with your X. Welcome to the club.
