Hey guys I really wanna meet up and go wheelin with you all so how about oct 24? Maybe at Mayhem Offroad in McMinnville, TN, or Wooly's?
Let me know what you think!:pfeilimkopf-big:

That's a definite possibility for me. I'll be in Tampa the first half of October but I'm free and clear until mid-November after that. Not familiar with Mayhem and I've seen a bit of what Wooly's has to offer but for those that are running stock/semi-stock, Coal Creek is THE place to go. Plus I'm pretty familiar with the southern half of the park and there's enough there to keep us busy for a day if not two.

BUT... if you guys prefer to try Mayhem or Wooly's I'm down as well. I'm always up for testing out a new park.

Did a little digging on Mayhem... whoo... rough country. Not too sure they will have all that much to keep us entertained for a day unless we do a lot of watching of the more extreme rigs. I looked at an aerial photo of the park and it doesn't seem too big to begin with aside from the number of trails that might be doable by our rigs. I'd say it's only a couple of hundred acres at best. Might be worth somebody dropping by one weekend and just doing a little recon on the park but it looks pretty rough.

Wooly's seems to offer a bit more than them for sure and since we already have a little intel on the park it's definitely a better option for us compared to Mayhem. I still think Coal Creek will be the best option even though it's a long ass drive for me but it has always been worth it. I know enough of the trails there to either put you guys through the ringer or just have an enjoyable day on the trails. I led a group of stockers during the NOAS run back in May and we did a loop that covered about 15 miles and took the majority of the day. The scenery is awesome with great overlooks of surrounding towns. It costs a bit more than most parks but for what it has to offer it is hard to beat.

I could probably swing Coal Creek for that time, i'm stock/near stock (plan to have a bit more done by then though, but nothing major)

Coal Creek is in Oliver Springs west of Knoxville. It's 72,000 acres and over 160 miles of trails. You could ride an entire weekend and never hit the same trail twice even with a stock/semi-stock vehicle.

Here's some of our previous trips there:

I don't think I'd be able to make it over to those places in middle Tenn that month of October but I might be able to swing Coal Creek on that weekend of the 24th....depending on work.

Cleanup/Tear down

That is for the ATV's. Windrock ATV club is a major atv club that puts a lot of time and effort into that park and they hold several big events throughout the year there. They also handle a lot of the trail maintenance. Which they should since they are the ones that tear that park up so freakin' bad. I've seen them turn a easy rated trail into a moderate rated trail overnight from all the damn ruts they dig up.

The good thing is, the acreage is so vast that it can handle it and still not shut it down to others wanting to come and wheel. They will predominantly stick to the mud bog play pits and atv playgrounds but there will also be a lot of them on trail #22 and several other trails in the southern half. Fortunately they also have a wide variety of trails that are strictly ATV only and the ones that do get out on the trails normally stick to those. #22 seems to be a big favorite for them though which is also a good trail for everybody. I've been there during one of their jamborees and while yeah the parking area was jam packed, they were pretty spread out throughout the park.

If you guys are still game, I'm all for it. I can give them a call to see what they expect for that event but Coal Creek is such a large park and they don't allow it to be rented out by groups like other smaller parks will.

Hell with that! I aint going to CC if that many ATVs are gonna be there that weekend because we will have to constantly pull over for them and from what I recall, its a long ass wait in between

And don't worry about slowing the group down. I've been there on bald tires. Stevin has been there on bald tires. I don't mind if we have to strap somebody up. At the last NOAS run, I had a 2WD frontier in my group that I had to strap up 6 times. I basically dragged him all over that park. lol

It can be the nature of the game. Myself or Stevin could have a breakage on the trail that might hold us up for a couple of hours. Things happen that you just can't control. I remember one trip where we encountered a guy in a bobbed F350 diesel. I'm talking a beast of a truck that looked like it could climb a rock wall. Dude blew his R&P and then blew a 38" tire off the rim. In doing so, he blocked the trail where our group couldn't get by. 4 hours we spent helping him get back up and running. Total wash of a trail day but like I said, stuff just happens.

You'll be fine. When Stevin went on his slicks, it was a steady downpour most of the morning and he handled everything pretty well although the X does make for a pretty good downhill sled in some sections ;)

I was there for their New Year's Jamboree a couple of years ago and it wasn't bad. They hardly go into the north end of the park. They don't have the fuel capacity to venture too far from the parking lot. And they didn't have all of the side events like this jamboree does. If we were to stay in the south end then yeah it could become quite irritating. The northern trails are more spread out but are pretty fun. I like the south end because I know 5 trails that we could link together into a continuous loop for a full day's ride but the north end has just as much to offer as the south. Just a little more driving between trails to link them up.

I might be up for that since I live in West Knoxville! I have never actualy been before so I am a true noob. And yes mine is pretty much stock. I was wanting to go to wind rock with my neighbor who built his jeep from ground up. But he hasnt gone there in a long time. Like a say if you dont mind having a little noob follow you around id love to go.

We were all noobs at one point or another. :)

If you guys don't like the idea of competing with the ATV's that weekend, do we have another date in mind? The previous or following weekend maybe? I'll try to call CC tomorrow and see what they expect as far as the turnout goes for those events but I still feel there is enough trails for everyone. I do agree with Stevin in that it is a real PITA to have to share with them especially since they have their own trails but they can also use ours but this park is so vast that I'm not even sure it's possible to jam up all of the trails.

I live in West Knoxville too....you must've seen my stickers on my X advertising this site or something, hahaha!

As for the CC, Drake, I'd be up for the north park but same rules apply for me and I'm sure others that are stock would agree...just take the easy/moderate trails and just have a good time....no extreme stuff, haha!

If we had to reschedule, it'd have to be the previous weekend for me. Other than that, I may not be able to swing anything until after new years.

Your kidding me, right? I used to work at Kohl's in farragut in summer of '06...graveyard shift. Lol. I finally left in Jan '07 to focus on UT classes.

Its a good chance you've probably seen a lifted dark green Xterra around farragut alot of times....can't miss that lol.

Haha, that's quite a long drive for a day's worth of wheeling but hey, couple of people have done that. We had a guy come from Jacksonville, FL come all the way up here just to wheel with us for a day. I think he said it was an 12 hr drive each way....lol

I'm down for the 17th.

Yeah I'm not planning to hit the extreme stuff. I would prefer to keep it easy and fun but there are a couple of spots that you guys can test the limits SAFELY. I'm hoping to go to Superlift in Arkansas with my local club a few weeks after that so I don't need to risk a major breakage. Since we are doing it the week before, we can do the same loop I took the NOAS guys on back in May. A few light rock gardens and ledges but fully within a stockers' capabilities. Several good lengthy hill climbs but even in the slickest conditions, everybody made it up with the exception of the 2WD frontier. One of the X's in the group was on tires that were about as bald as you can get and he made it.

I'll start a new thread with the date so we can get all of our ducks in a row.
