: Hi Lift delivered today.
Xterra Mike 09-14-2009, 01:08 PM just got my hi lift today. Got the black 48" cause the red one was on backorder. Now where to mount it.

xterra08black 09-14-2009, 01:10 PM make a hood mount ;)
J Everett 09-14-2009, 01:10 PM Attach it to your front bumper above the winch. Except it might get stolen there....you could try these (http://fourtreks.com/hi_lift_roll_bar_mounts_1_75_.html). They're expensive, but they look fantastic.

i was thinkin that.

I could mount it there too. F those rack mounts. Yea they are nice but they are more expensive then the hi lift itself. I'll think of something.
J Everett 09-14-2009, 01:23 PM Couple of bolts with big ass fender washers in the bumper and a couple of wing nuts to hold the jack ought to do. Just not a lot of theft protection.
Xterra Mike 09-14-2009, 01:27 PM yea thats a good idea but i would attach it only when i'm wheeling. i would take it off when i'm done. Might want to do the hood idea to keep it higher and out of the puddles that i go into. Wait, did i just say that? I better keep it inside then.
get the brackets like i have (made for a load warrior).....bolt it to the back bumper, and use a cable lock / gun lock around the bumper going through the hole for the spare tire tool
Xterra Mike 09-14-2009, 01:50 PM yea thats an idea.
Mike, as you and I frequent wet places, I recommend you mount it behind the rear seats....the 48" jack fits perfectly there....and uses up almost no room that way.
It keeps it clean and dry, and yet handy if needed....just fold the rear seat down to grab it w/o even opening the rear hatch if you want.
:D
dkswim 09-14-2009, 05:44 PM i would say behind rear seat since its a 48 can access it from 3 places if one of the doors isblocked by tree, bolder, underwater or way up in the air. ive read rear bumber is not the ideal location. front you would want it higher up less gritt to get into it. and roof rack i would hate to be reaching over head to remove and reinstall 30 lbs. my 2c
buy the way where did you get from?
Xterra Mike 09-14-2009, 05:44 PM actually i did think about mounting it to my storage box too. Got it from 4x4Parts.com
drbandkgb 09-14-2009, 05:50 PM What are you guys paying for the jacks? I ask this because Ive seen them very cheap at TSC ( Tractor Supply Company)?
Xterra Mike 09-14-2009, 06:00 PM 55 bucks before shipping
steelehunter09 09-14-2009, 06:05 PM Thats not too bad for price and it looks really cool! (nice bike in the pic! mike)

Google Beach cruiser or Del sol bikes and you'll see them. Just about every bike company makes that style. Real big thing out here on the east coast.
seems like i seen them for 30 there all it is is a basic tractor jack
Is that a real Hi-Lift though???
drbandkgb 09-14-2009, 07:57 PM Its for the same style I dont know the name brand.... A jack is a jack

I dont know if they have TSC stores where your at but shipping has to be alot..
Xterra Mike 09-14-2009, 08:39 PM looks exactly the same.
drbandkgb 09-14-2009, 08:45 PM looks exactly the same.
If you see the pix you can make out the Hi Lift logo...
I didnt mean to jack your thread.. yours looks great!
Just seen this thread and it made me think!
dkswim 09-14-2009, 10:26 PM keep in mind the Hi lift jack is completly rebuildable. most others off brands are not or do not sell the parts so if breakage or wear you are S.O.L.
Shepherd 09-15-2009, 05:10 AM I have that jack from TSC, but mine actually came from Canadian Tire, and from what I can make out in the first pic, the only difference is the paint job and the logo. It's not a Hi-Lift, (I can't remember if mine is a Big Red or a JackAll), but it looks to me like the replacement parts fom Hi-Lift will still fit the jack from TSC.
The one I got says it's good for 7000 lbs tho, not 5000.
Xterra Mike 09-15-2009, 05:38 AM interesting
drbandkgb 09-15-2009, 06:12 AM Anyways I like it! cant wait to see it mounted

Slugger 09-15-2009, 10:05 PM http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=6530
sale price on it is like 34.99. I could get that plus my 20% off which would make it around 28 bucks total for the jack. But I have heard from people don't buy them, but I have used them around the store and it worked good.
Xterra Mike 09-15-2009, 10:08 PM why do people say don't buy them????
steelehunter09 09-15-2009, 10:26 PM It is comfortable, i mean she says its comfortable to ride.:aufkopfhauen-big:
HA...I knew it! lol
Slugger 09-15-2009, 11:17 PM why do people say don't buy them????
I've heard people say can break real easy, but since I've been working there I've only seen like 1 or 2 brought back out of 100s that I've sold. I don't think anything would be wrong with buying it, since nothing can go wrong with it. I mean its not an electrical tool from HFT.
