The ALPiNE X 09-06-2009, 08:37 PM I have been thinking of painting the roof rack bars for awhile now and i was woundering if anyone has a recomendation on how to or the best way to do them. I want to Paint them black for future "blacking-out" and but yet want to paint the "X" in red with the other lettering in white or all red. If so, you just have to prep it well and scuff the current finish. If it has pealed in spots, it's a little trickier. Raw aluminum is difficult to paint correctly and takes special steps to prep. dkswim 10-10-2009, 06:53 PM i would vinal the xterra or reverse and paint it thought the vinal. i would remove the bars, remove the plastic, light sanding of the bars, hang up somewhere you can paint at prefrably not next to your cars or house be aware of wind and moisture.
