So if that means I'm interested, sign me up... :D

I am curious, when the II was released in early summer they said there was going to be a USB connection for transfering data to a computer. This kit with software was supposed to come out in August I think. I now see no mention of it on their site. Do you know, did they scrap this idea? If so, bummer.

FYI:

Paul,

We are starting to sound like Microsoft, but the release has been delayed.

One of the reasons is we added the ability to reprogram both the ScanGaugeII and the Interface itself via an internet download. This had a very large impact on the ScanGaugeII program and has been more difficult than originally envisioned.

I will send you an e-mail when it is completed.

Sorry,

Ron

Subject: ScanGaugeII Interface Availability

Back in June of this year I recieved this e-mail:

Paul,

The interface is a unit with memory and processing power itself. It has a cable that plugs into the unused connector on the ScanGaugeII and another that plugs into a USB port on a computer. They don't have to both be plugged in at the same time.

The interface will use SD Cards for data storage. You can plug it inot the ScanGauge for logging and for other upload/download tasks. It can be removed from the vehicle and taken to a computer for data transfers.

The ScanGaugeII has all the hardware needed for the interface, but will need an upgrade of its program to use it. The Upgrade is free when you purchase the interface.

Price has not been finalized yet. It is expected to be under $100. This will also include the software for a windows based computer.

We are currently planning to begin shipping it in late August.

Ron

Can you please give an update on the availability of this interface? Thanks...

Paul...

I'm working on finding out if and when this will be released. They apparently have been adding more features to this so that it's better, and it's harder than the thought. Idea has not been scrapped. I'll have more info on this later.

Hello All,

First and foremost I want to wish each and everyone of you a Safe and Happy New Year.

I am absolutely blown away by the response to the ScanGauge II GB. Provided that members can be reached and payment clears it looks like we've surpassed the 50 mark, which puts pricing at $130 shipped. FYI: CA residents are subject to state sales tax of 7.75% (CA residents total: $139.30).

We've made s/h arrangements so HI/AK residents will also only pay only $130 shipped, no additonal s/h will be required. International orders will require additional s/h. Please PM me with your complete zip code and s/h options will be given.

Hello All,

I appreciate all of the heartfelt PM’s and emails I received regarding my family’s health issues. All is well, and surgery was able to be avoided, for now.

Now for Biz-ness. I’ve had several PM’s asking what the pricing is going to be if/when we get 100+ orders. I inquired about this and there was not a significant price drop on 100+ orders. So, as an incentive IF/WHEN WE GET TO 100+ orders, I am going to give each GB participant a $10 credit good towards a future purchase from SoCal Motorsports (Credit not valid on any eBay purchase – only purchases made on www.socalmotorsports.com (http://www.socalmotorsports.com/) or purchases called in). More info. will be provided if/when we hit the 100+ mark.

I posted the payment instructions on an earlier post, but just so everyone is aware I have pasted them below. Please contact me should you have any lingering concerns or questions.

The printed invoice that was e-mail show the regular price charge to my visa card $159.00 each plus additional charge for shipping to HI which came to $359.00 total.

I thought I was going to be charge $260.00 ? We will see the actual price when I received the scan gauge? BUT it still is printed at $359.00 on my bill.

I guess I will have to wait for the actual arrival of scan gauge! ......Thank-you and Aloha

it says in the posts from socalsports to ignore the email you had sent to you after you ordered the scanguage. after the 12th of jan (tomorrow), when no more orders are being allowed, they will then charge your credit card for the correct amount of $130.00 per unit. if you access to your credit statement online, check it, your card hasn't been charged yet. it will be charged after tomorrow for the price that was discussed on this forum for the group buy. the email that you got is from an automated system and is sent to anyone who orders from their company. so, as soon as you placed an order, it was sent to you, even though it's incorrect and doesn't reflect this totally sweet deal that we are getting through the forum. i'm pretty sure someone already posted this when you asked about the price the first time, but here it is again, right out of the post from socal-

Hello All,

I have said this before and I’ll say it again, thank you very much for all of your support in our most recent Group Buy. The response to the ScanGauge II purchase has been amazing.

To ensure that we hit the 100 mark we have extended the GB until this Sunday (1/14/07) at 11:59:59 pm pst. Hitting the 100 mark also gets each GB participant with a $10 credit on their next (non eBay) purchase from SoCal Motorsports. Those who ordered more than 1 ScanGauge II will receive a $10 credit for each unit purchased during the GB. Please direct all questions to me at john@socalmotorsports.com. This credit can only be redeemed on orders from www.socalmotorsports.com (http://www.socalmotorsports.com/) or call-in orders to SoCal Motorsports. Moreover, the order you plan to redeem your $10 credit on must be made by the same person participating in this group buy.

Several customers have asked about the BlendMount mounting solution for the ScanGauge II. A GB for this mount will start this weekend and run through next weekend (ONLY 1 WEEK). Look for pricing tomorrow.

GB Update:

Many CC’s were charged today and the rest will be charged tomorrow. Provided that you gave us a valid email address you should expect your updated invoice with accurate pricing sometime this weekend. If you do not receive an updated invoice (PDF format) please email us early next week and we’ll send one out ASAP.

Approximate ship date from is ScanGauge mid next week. Our hope is that each customer will have their ScanGauge by 1/24 (S/H timeframe is for Cont. USA customers only – all other customers will likely get theirs 1-4 business days after that).

Thank you again and we hope you have a great weekend.

Hello All,

Well, this concludes our most recent, and most successful Group Buy. We sold “163” total ScanGauges. Thank you to all that participated. Although the GB started on ClubTitan.org we had responses from several online forums. The majority of the sales came from CT.org, CF.org, CA.com and CX.org

There has been some confusion regarding the 2nd (accurate) invoice. If you have not received an invoice or an online payment request please contact me (email or phone) ASAP so as to secure your ScanGauge at the GB price. We had some difficulties with our online CC program over the weekend. We thought each customer received an accurate invoice, however by the barrage of phone calls we received Tuesday-Today we soon found out that wasn’t the case. We resent the invoices to those who haven’t received them.

Since we surpassed the 100 mark, each GB participant is entitled to a $10 credit on their next order from SoCal Motorsports. This offer is only good on purchases made over the phone or orders submitted on www.socalmotorsports.com (http://www.socalmotorsports.com/). eBay purchases are not included in this offer. Call/email for complete details.

The order has been submitted to ScanGauge. I will have more information as far as shipping times and tracking information tomorrow.
ATTN: THOSE INTERESTED IN THE BLENDMOUNT GROUP BUY.

I will be posting the newest info (pricing, s/h, availability, and applications) tomorrow. FYI: You can use the $10 credit to purchase the Blendmount.

Thank you again for choosing SoCal Motorsports and we hope that you enjoy your new toy, once it arrives.

I have my current gen1 below the A/C controls. It's not a bad location. For as much as you need to look at it, it works well and it's out of the way. With the new Gen2 which are much smaller, I might move it. A lot of people are mounting them to the top of their rear view mirror. I don't really like that location as I like to have my mirror as far up as I can and there isn't room above it.

My brother has his Gen1 mounted on top of his dash next to his A-pillar. He has a 99 Sierra.

the scanguage arrived today...fortunately, i had the day off from work and was able to spend some time figuring out how i wanted to install it. i liked the idea of mounting it above the mirror, but the cable wasn't long enough to run behind the dash and under the headliner to make a clean install, and that would make it really hard to take out and use on other vehicles. after a little playing around, i came up with what i have in the pictures below. i mounted it right behind the shifter, in front of the cup holders. it's out of the way, and i can reach it and see it well while driving. my arm blocks my view while shifting, but i'm not planning on trying to read the guage while going around a corner and dropping gears, so i don't think that will be a problem. the cable runs under the edge of the center console and up by the pax seat, so it's nice and clean, but i can pull it right out without the use of any tools if i want to run it in another vehicle. i bent up a few angle brackets and mounted the whole thing with industrial strength velcro to hold it in place. when i'm not using it or don't want it to be seen i can take it out in a matter or seconds. i love it so far- all of it's features are great. what i really like the most is the miles to empty gas feature. this, coupled with distance to go on my gps is going to be a godsend while taking road trips- it's a nice warm-fuzzy to know how much further you can go without stopping, and not having to really on the public math i ran in my head

when you guys get yours installed, put some pics up. i'm curious to see how others decided to mount the unit. thanks again to socal sports for kick a$$ deal

If you are worried about the cabel length, you can use just a standard CAT5 network cable extension. They even sell them as an option for like $15 (which is more than 2x what it's really worth).

Mine arrived today also, I'm not sure yet where I'm going to install it.

yeah, i thought about getting a longer cable, but i would rather be able to take the unit out when i want to use it in another vehicle. if i get annoyed with how i have it set up i'll just peel off the velcro and go another route

What you can do is run the cable to the OBD port to the drivers side kick panel (coil up the slack). Then run an extension from the mirror to the kick panel (with a female RJ45 port on the end). That way you can leave that cable in place, but if you want to remove the SG to use in another car, you just remove the original cable and leave the one from the mirror to the kick panel.

Jusat a thought.

BTW, mine didn't show up today. :(

That's what Mike asked me to get! :)
I think because he is wanting to get the newer ones with the larger 7/8" linkage.

Is the group buy for just the 7/8" product or can anyone with the 3/4" needs be included in the group buy? I haven't had a chance to even look at the 2004 X since first search hadn't turned up anything but looks like a nice product and would want to use that $10 credit if possible for this.

The Blendmount group buy will be through a different company than the Scangauge group buy. It will be $45, but you can't use the $10 coupon since that was through SoCal Motorsports, and the blendmount is from MGTMotorsports. $45 for any blendmount for scangaugeII.

Yes it's over. If you head over to www.clubtitan.org there is one member who just bought one from this group buy and decide he didn't need it. He's selling it for $120 shipped.
Here's the link

There will be another one in a week or so. Price will be a little higher though most likely.

From 1996 and on (require by law) all vehicles has a plug in spot under the dash board, usually under the steering wheel area inside.

Very easy to plug in...just look under your dashboard driver side! Very easy to use! .......Aloha

Hey guys,
The BlendMount is still available at the group buy price of $45.

Coupon code "NISSANGB" in our online store.
http://www.nexternal.com/mgt/catagory24

I visited my friendly Nissan dealer over the weekend and did an install on a 2007 Frontier and a 2007 Xterra. The install was a breeze. All the Frontiers and Xterras at the dealer had the 3/4" diameter linkage. Some of you guys already ordered your BlendMount and should be receiving them any day now. On the Frontier install I used a 1/2" long stand off which leaves a pretty good sized gap between the Scangauge and the mirror. On the Xterra install I used 1/4" stand off (5 washers) Which leaves a smaller gap between the ScanGauge and the mirror. I personally prefer this myself. Either way works just fine. The most important thing is that there is a small gap between the SG and the mirror so the mirror may be adjusted upward. We would love to see some install pics and feedback.

1/2" long stand off is used between the angle and the shaft collar.

The five flat washers are equivalent to a 1/4" long stand off.

Well, what I meant was would the blendmount work on our rearview mirrors on the 2001 Xterra models? From what I've read on the site, its only for the 2nd gen X's only....I'd like to mount it on my rearview mirror.

the blendmount is only for the 2nd gen's... unless you change to the 2nd gen mirror

I've thought about putting the scangauge near the A-pillar on my drivers side as a alternative since I thought the mirror mount would work well for mine, but would like to leave the center dash open for the GPS unit

I just got my ScanGuageII and installed it in about 2 hours. It would've been shorter but I had no idea what I was doing. For example, when I finished I discovered a screw that was laying on the floor of my truck that wasn't there when I started, so I had to take everything apart and figure out where it lived.

Anyway, everything works as advertised with one exception. Occasionally, upon start up, my instrument cluster tells me my wheels are slipping and that I've enabled my hill-descent control. The fix for this is just turn my truck off and then start it again. This issue is too intermittent to be very bothersome and I actually haven't seen it in over a day of regular driving.

That said, I really like the unit. The features are useful and fully appeal to the geek/gear-head in me. However, I do wish that the user manual and the actual user interface on the unit were easier to understand and get around in, and I feel that the actual ScanGuageII looks and feels a little flimsy for a $160 price tag.

i think it is well worth the $160 price tag... and I'm sure you will be whizzing through the controls in no time....

I'm not complaining, just adding my .02 for those who are considering the purchase and as of yet undecided. I really do like the thing. I just spent 15 minutes sitting my Xterra fiddling with the parameters of the backlight color to get a custom color I liked.
