hey all!

i'm not sure if this is a similar issue as other have posted recently, but i noticed the past few days whenever i'm driving (fast, or slow) and turn the wheel just slightly (or more) to the right i hear a small squeaking sound. the sound becomes slightly louder if i'm going over bumps when turning the wheel. It happen even if the truck is cold. I suspect something may need some adjusting.

any feedback on this would be helpful, i'll probably try to isolate the problem better on thursday when i have time.

If it's happening mostly on bumps, and not when your wheel is turned hard, then I'd check your front swaybar bushings. Look for excessive wear or cracking, or missing bushings, there should be no metal-to-metal contact.

since you're driving a 2nd gen x, it's possible that it could be your hood that is squeaking. i had the same problem with mine, and thought it was the suspension. i took it to the dealer, and they told me it was the hood moving everytime i went over a bump. they told me they fixed it, and as soon as i got it home, it happened again. below are a couple links from another forum that i found about the problem and how i fixed it.....cost me about 3 bucks from home depot and i haven't heard a peep since....apparently it is a pretty common problem on the new x's, but since it's not a real safety hazzard, nissan doesn't want to put out a recal for it. i'm not sure if this is the problem you're having, but it's worth looking into, since it's a real cheap fix.

here's the link for the description of the problem:

and here's how they fixed it:

i did something very similar to mine- just added those felt pads you put on your furniture to keep it from scratching your floors to the hood bushings and it stopped squeaking right away. i keep an extra set in the glove box just in case i ever hear it again. like i said, not sure if this is the problem you're having, since you mentioned you're hearing it when you turn the wheel- i was only hearing it when i went over a bump, but check it out. hope this helps some-

anthony - i'll look into that

unclehardrock - i saw others had this problem, the reason why i do not suspect this is the cause is it only happens when i am turning the wheel to the right, straight or left, no noise, but i will still check this too just to cover all my bases

thanks guys
