Hey guys, its Jack again with another post. I've been test driving several x's to try to find JUST the right one. I've got my heart set on the dash that the '01s have, (dark tan mixed with khaki accents). I'm now wondering what other differences the interior on X's have based on year. I'll be buying an early model, so 00, 01, or an 02.

Here are the things I could come up with. Do these change in the early years?

1. Seats
2. Stereo setups
3. Dash layouts
4. Tach and speedometer gauges
5. Design of the rear seats, etc.
6. Shifters
7. Rear storage

What do you guys with the early models like most about your interior, and what DONT you like? I havent found, and obviously havent test driven an x with leather interior. Was leather even an option? I will be getting upholstry anyhow, as I'd rather not clean the leather after kayaking and hiking dirty's it up.:thumbup:

With my 2 X's there aren't that many differences besides exterior front end and the interior dash . With the seat set-up you'll find the handle for moving the front seats forward and back on different sides. The center console between the seats is larger in the '01 than the '02. That being said though the floor console with the gear shifters in the '02 is in my opinion better desined that the '01. The '02's radio set-up is easier to handle if you've got big paws for hands. The '01's radio is a little small for my liking. Both are factory installs.
The dash set-up is different as well. The '01 seems to have more room than the '02.The gauges are set up different as you've probally noticed, the '01 having one larger viewing area for needles and gauges while the '02 having three different viewing windows for everything. All the alert-lites and warning lites seem to be the same in both vehicles. Everything seems alittle closer in the '02. The speakers are different in that the '01 's small ones are located in the upper-door where-as the '02's are mounted on the A-pillar post. Glove box's are diff as well. While the '01 is deeper the '02 is wider. It would seem that everything in the back seats and cargo area remained the same with the exception of the cup holders in the rear-part of the center console. The '01's are stationary while the '02's are collapsable.

The exterior is not the same as you can see. The front end is the only difference. The '02 has side marker lamps. None on the '01. Bumper and grill are both diff. Fog light set up diff aswell. Also head light set up is quite different.

I believe that mainly covers the '01-vs'02 Xterras. Atleast thats what I've found different. There's probably more but I think the ones I've listed are the main ones. Even with the changes I wouldn't trade either of them for anything else. Well maybe 2 brand new X's.:auslachen2-big:

Well I'm stuck to looking at 00's, 01 and 02s. I cant afford the 03+ models
