the alarm wont even work so i have to use the key to open the door. im sure that the issue is the battery terminals/connections. one of the connections is open and the wires look both rusted and frayed. every time i look at it when the x wont start it seems as if more and more ends of the wires are disappearing, either rusting or falling off. I already changed the connectors to attach the wires to the battery and i think I need to change the wires but im not sure. any suggestions or ideas?

Well, It looks from here like you have a bit of a corrosion issue, or, maybe the battery isn't tied down, sots its moving too much, fraying wires....and, of course, you might need new wires/connections, and, maybe a new battery.
Step one is to attempt a jump start, and ensure a good battery/connection can start the engine.
Step 2 might be to bring the battery to a local shop (Autozone, PepBoys, etc...) and have them test it for free to see if its ok.
While there, get all new wires and connections for it, as you need them for the new battery anyway.....or the old one if its OK.
And - see about checking that battery tie down (It has to come off to take out the battery anyway...), and if it was loose, when replacing it, make it tighter.
:D

I am having the same issue. I replaced the connectors last week. It will jump start with no problems. I am going to have the battery tested in a few minutes at a local Autozone. If the battery is okay, should I just replace the battery wire since I already have new connectors? Could it be an alternator or something like that? Not REAL good with repairing but can follow directions to the "T".
Thanks for any response!

X2 on what TJTJ said about replacing the wires. Actually, X2 on everything he said!
I had to replace the wires on my 2000 X and my 91 Hardbody Truck.
Corrosion is an ongoing battle with Nissans it seems...

Duhr on me. The battery was bad. I felt like I purchased that battery recently, say year and a half ago. Turns out it was nearly three. I will be replacing the actually wire/cable for the connectors here soon. Looks a bit difficult but I'll give it a whirl.:aufkopfhauen-big:
