: I am in sensor HELL

I recently took my car for an e-check. (2002 v6 no supercharger) Upon leaving the e-check station (after passing i might add), my check engine light came on. I noticed a rough idle and an overall drop in fuel economy.

I took it to the ZONE and they put it on the meter for me. The results were:

P0132 oxygen sensor - pre converter bank 1
P0328 Knock sensor
P0304 misfire in cylinder #4

I checked the plugs for fouling and replaced the plugs and oxygen sensor
the check engine light remained lit

I took it back to the ZONE to find a whole new batch of codes along with some old codes:

P0328 Knock Sensor
P1168 Fuel Rail Sensor
P0051 Oxygen Sensor - pre converter bank 2

Am i chasing gremlins here or is there a reasonable way to troubleshoot this problem without replacing every stinking sensor on the truck? (at $130 to $150 a pop.... this is getting expensive.)

Thanks in advance for your help.

i forgot to mention this is a 2002 V6 with no supercharger in case that matters.

First thing you need to do is to take it somewhere to have it properly checked out. Just because it has a O2 sensor code in it does not always mean you have a bad sensor. I am a mechanic and deal with this every day. You need to get the flow charts for the trouble codes that you have and do the checks that it calls for.

I subscribed to alldatadiy.com and now have access to all the shop manuals for the truck. It provides step by step testing for each of the trouble codes... hopefully this will end my gremlin chase.

Thanks,

I talked to a mechanic at the dealership and he said it sounds like there are actually two problems. He said to replace the second oxygen sensor and then the fuel level sending unit and I should be good to go. I will give it a shot and let you all know...

Thanks for your help.
