: Trottle body spacers?
Kona Hawaii 11-27-2006, 06:05 PM Hello, Just order one for 2002 Nissan vg33, Street performance...claims about 3 more mpg, plus 10% more torque, and 11% more horse power....I could be wrong here....? Trottle body $101 plus shipping.
How do you like it? ......Aloha
Anthony 11-27-2006, 07:00 PM Sorry, I have no personal experience with TB spacers, so I can't say whether they actually work or not.
However, based on what other people have said, I doubt you will notice any difference. Sorry dude.
Let us know if it works as claimed.
Kona Hawaii 11-27-2006, 07:39 PM Hello, After checking the sites: Throttle body spacers, there is lots of different brands all claiming the same thing, increase horsepower, better mileage 1-4 miles gain.
If this was not true, everyone who brought these could sue these companies for false advertisement. (several of them make these).
10 horse power and 1-2 mpg will be hard to notice. Just like the K &N air fitlter...at first you will notice the engine breaths better..(small notice)..till you get use to it...than you don't notice it at all!
When I do install it...I will let you know?
Why is it so popular? It must work!!! ...than again? ...it might not work for everyone (different types of autos).
Anthony 11-27-2006, 08:26 PM My suggestion would be to do a search and read what people that have installed them are saying, not what the manufacturers are claiming. Most people say that the only difference they notice is a whistling sound when they accelerate.
Also, most of the manufacturers claim "UP TO" whatever gains, so it could be 0hp gain, and they would still be correct. Besides, no one is going to go through the time and expense to sue for false advertising on a $100 part.

"Q: I am looking for advice about throttle body spacers that I have read about in several advertisements. I would like to know if they are a wise investment, and what I can really expect from them. I don’t want to dish out the money and not get increased mileage in return.
A: I haven't seen any throttle body spacers advertised as improving fuel economy. Which is fine, because they don't."
Kona Hawaii 11-27-2006, 09:49 PM Hello, For me, I will try somethings that I believe may work for me!
I already added a cat back exhaust, got the iridium plugs (still needs to be installed), use nothing but mobil one oil. and throttle body on the way here.
Plus the Eco fuel system should be here by the end of the week.
What work for some, may not work for others, BUT we are trying always be a little different.........Thank-you for sharing.....Aloha
Kona Hawaii 11-28-2006, 03:48 PM Hello, I found more info...You are right....there will be very little or no improvement because of injection system (the way it works) will have NO effect by the throttle body spacer. It is a waste of money.
It will work for carburator type cars and set-ups. Sometimes we learn the hard way............Aloha
Anthony 11-28-2006, 06:03 PM Correct, since we have Multi-Port fuel injection, the throttle body is about as efficient as it will get as far as airflow. If our trucks had throttle body injection then the spacer would help to get a more efficient fuel/air mix into the intake plenum.
graciefighter 11-29-2006, 06:32 PM as for xterras I'm not sure. But I have had one installed on my older jeep as well as a few of my buddies, and there is a difference but it is small
WVRandy 12-28-2006, 07:13 PM Hey, guys I remember back in the 70's my dad had a Ford F250 with a 360 v8. It had a spacer under the carb from the factory. Eventually the spacer went bad and performance fell off to nothing. I installed an airaid unit on our Xterra, but I did it at the same time as installing a Nismo cold air intake unit. So, did I notice anything from it? Good question. BUT, I ordered a similar unit and put on my '92 Chevy truck with the 4.3 v6, and did notice a considerable difference in the lower end torque. I think a good bit of the difference here is where the fuel is being mixed in. Is your vehicle multiport fuel injected, or throttle-body injected ? Air with fuel will be colder than dry air. Cooler air and fuel will burn cleaner and more efficiently, with less preignition than a hot air/fuel mixture. The spacer gives an opportunity for improved mixing of the fuel and air, and cooling as a side effect as it moves through even this short of a space. At least that's how a racer once explained it to me...

This is true for carbuerated or throttle body injected engines only. Xterra is Multiport meaning the fuel is essentially injected right toward the combustion chambers
AgTitan06 12-28-2006, 07:43 PM People with Titans seem to notice a small gain in low-end torque. I'll be getting one soon.
