i know i can't be the only guy on here with 2 12's in his X. now, for those of you that do. what are you doing to keep it still in the back and not move around?? i haven't thought of any good ideas to keep it from sliding around. i'm thinking about using 3M double sided tape, i hear that stuff is pretty tough, but lemme know if there are better options

i have a box with 2 10"s in the back....i just have a ratchet strap between both hooks for the rear seat backs to hold it i down....ghetto, yes, but it works...plus, i have a husky liner in the cargo area that the box sits in, and i didnt want to drill through the liner into the floor to mount it with metal angle brackets....if i ever need to take the liner out to wash it, i can still lift the box out

i'll see if i can find a pic

looks slightly different now, but thats still how i have it held down

that double sided tape probably wont hold it well

the ratchet straps isn't a bad idea. what kind of a liner do you have back there? i want to put something down there but can't find a rubber mat or liner. all i have found is carpet that they have pre-made for the xterra. i would like to find a liner like you have or rubber mat that's pre-made for my car. i may have to do the ratchet straps. thanks for the advice!

the ratchet is kind of a guarentee that it wont move as long as the strap doesnt break. i had my box with 2 15" bolted to the bottom and got into an accident and it didnt look pretty back there

Bungee chords... worked when I was driving... very ghetto but it worked. Next time id probably go wit the ratchet straps... or a bigger box that doesn't move around

a bigger box is just a bigger bullet goin over heavy bumps like that. always have it strapped or bolted

well i dont have two 12"s but i do have one...and did the JL Stealthbox idea (home made) and put it on the pass side wall just below the rear quater window...if you were skilled in woodworking (as i am not) you could theoretically (sp) make a box for the drivers side wall just under the rear quater window and put a second sub there and put one massive sub under the cargo tray cover that lifts out...maximizes cargo space and you get the kick you want...for the drivers side if you went with said idea you could fiberglass the rear (best option for that side) then 3/4" MDF for everything else...i used the drivers side for my amp rack...

sry forgot to add how to attach...i know one guy who bolted it thru the body...i went the less invasive but more unstable (has held at full vol to date) just a bunch of 'L' brackets and screws (box to floor and box to wall)

I had two 12", never had any prob, but the strap sounds good. Or a heavier box.

Mine isnt strapped down or bolted the 2 12"s sit there under numerous dumb manuvers carpet on carpet is pretty stable and the heavy speakers help hold it down. I put a strap down to the floor when I take it out wheelin even though I only do the baby stuff with the X.

My box's width fits between the two wheel well humps snugly by design. The side-to-side shifting will be nil. But like many of you I will probably create anchor points to strap it down for the bumpy stuff. Unlike my previous ride where everything was fiberglassed in and such, the X is made to be versatile so I have to have the box moveable in case i need to haul stuff like bikes. Therefore think "function" over "form" but my fosgate 12's will still be happy in their new home. :)
