OOOKKKK soo anyway a friend of mine that I used to race with has finally had it with his old lady hating the car and the money pit and BS that comes with racing and hes wanting to get into wheelin like I did as the alternative to get his fix of mud and metal. Hes on an extremely tight budget but only looking for a trail only rig and that helps but while browsing for an elcheapo 4x4 to get him started far enough along we can wheel together without him having to take bypass routes instead of following me we stumbled across an add for a 92 Nissan pathfinder V6 auto 4x4 that had terminal frame rot above the rear axle. The owner wants $200 and the truck runs and drives just isnt safe for highway use b/c of the frame. Im handy with a welder and we can get that fixed no problem but whats the axles like in these? Is it the same as the Xterra? We dont really plan to lift it at all just cut the fenders to clear 33" Vtread tractor tires weld the rear diff up and avoid breaking to many axles. He has a much lighter foot than I do. SOO would this work or am I going to gernade the diffs/transfer case/ trans? Any other info on suspension would be nice.

That's where they all rot.

They aren't terrible. The SEs had LSD in them. Nothing special.

But the LSD in those pathys IIRC has a really high torque break. I wheeled with a few guys from NOAS in pathys in that year range and they were quite impressive. The rear axle is a H233B but I think it has a different spline count than ours and has a few more locker/gearing options (I know Detroit makes a locker for it).
