hey guys, I've got an old '69 Sunfish sailboat and trailer and am in the process of getting a VIN number and registration for the trailer. My problem is that this process takes a while and I'm wanting to get it out on the open water. Next week, my girlfriend's family is going to their lakehouse and I wanted to bring the Sunfish. The trip is about 3 hours (Indianapolis to somewhere south). Do you think that I could get away with tying some red caution tape on the back and driving slow? Do you think a cop would really care? Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this sort of thing or knows anything on the subject. Thanks.

I'd stop by the state police office and talk to them. They usually know the correct way to handle those kinds of problems.

Of course, as soon as I got home I got the letter from the bmv in the mail (it's bmv in Indiana). So now I'm all legal.

The X pulled fairly well. I wish the first gens had a little more power but owell. I was pulling the trailer on the back, kayak and gear on the roof, gear in the trunk, and a carload of people.
