Be sure and get the metallic kind, so it doesn't turn pink, has that state inspection bs become non priority on the tint? Seems like every year they have a new gadget to test something the state added....one year they had a gas cap checker, and nearly all of the locking style caps leaked

I am having a hardtime matching the exact color of the factory tint. I had to get mine replaced twice already.

you wont match the color, its privacy glass, so the glass itself is tinted and not a film on the surface

So I should stick with the tint I got. It is weird from the outside you cant tell the difference, a exact match. But from the inside it is much darker(non factory) then the back and a little greener. Thanks for your help Ricer-X I am glad to see the 100th member.

i just had them tint over my privacy glass, i had the EXACT same stuff happen. theres no tint to remove since the glas itself is tinted, its just like tinting the other windows

in PA you cant legally get lower than 35%

i paid about $135 for lifetime warranty from a local tuner shop on my old 2000 2.5RS

in wv the front 2 windows have to be 35 but the other windows from the back seats to the back can be 10% which mine are here they are strict i have been checked 3 times. also when they check them have the others rolled down or the door there checking open. it will lightened the one being checked. kinda helpful hint. but the fade from one color to another is a fine awaiting here.

Yeah, the cops don't like it when they come up to the side of your car, and can't see if you are pulling a gun, etc.

:D

In NJ, you can't tint the side or front windows, and the rear is limited too.

I think they'd make it illegal to even HAVE windows in NJ if they could.

I had 18% all around in my WRX when I lived in FL. Gotta love having no vehicle inspections.

In SC they have limits, only they aren't enforced, because the way that the law was written. The way things were written involves actually metering (light meter) the window before a citation can be written. Thus no one writes for it because there have only been about 10 of the light meters purchased for SCHP use, etc. Thus I have less than a legal amount of tint on all of my vehicles.

oh and for the front two windows of my X to be done with the same grade tint as the rest of the truck, I spent 40 bux with a lifetime warranty.

I am going to try and get them to match the front two windows with the rest of the Xterra. or should i try and get them to match 35 percent all around, thats the limit here in san antonio tx. just gotta find a good tint shop, seems like most want to charge too much for tint.

It may be difficult for them to match the front to the rears. I would probably just keep it a shade lighter in front, it will still look good.

If you can find a place locally that does http://www.formulaone.com/ tint, they are the best I've ever seen, and they gaurantee it for the life of the car, even if you scratch it or break a window, they replace the tint. Also gauranteed to never fade.

It looked awesome on my subaru!

FYI for all you Texas guys......the 35% law changed a few years ago. You can legally go down to 25% on the front sides now. ;)

Found this link last year when they tried to fail my former car for the tint being too dark. Showed it to them and they passed it.

For everyone else, here's a site to see what it is in your State:

i paid 60 for my front windows at "sound glass" or something like that. lifetime warranty included. as for the tail lights, they look great, just gotta keep adding thin layers to get it darker and darker, give it atleast 10 minutes before adding another thin layer. i believe i put 2 or 3 coats on mine. i'll have more pics up, as soon i as i get the car washed. i've been BSin on that cuz its been so cold out! haha..

So How Much Does It Hurt Your Reverse Light Output, That Would Be What Keeps Me From Tinting The Tails.
Its Hard Enough As It Is To See Backin Out My Driveway At Night, Though I Suppose I Could Put Some Auxilary Lights Back There

My Honda has Huper Optik ceramic tint. This stuff is great; it reduces heat like the metallic ones, but doesn't cut your visibility, and has a kind of greenish color to it... hard to describe. It's thicker than most tint, so it's durable as hell. No fade, no color change, no screwing with any kind of radio reception.

Not sure what I'll get for the X, though...

i am at 10% and it is illegal here in O-town,FL .. but, oh well!! I dont like people being up in my business of my truck and down here it helps it stay cooler inside the truck. I had all my windows tinted front and back..i did 10% in the front and 15% in the back over the privacy tinted windows from the factory... nice look..
