I decided to do the DIY snorkel mod, on my 04 s/c. Everything went great, I got it all buttoned up. But when I attempted to start it a few hours later, none of the idiot lights on the dash lit up, I could hear the fuel pumpkick on, but the engine won’t start. It acts like the battery is dead ( i know it isn't radio turns on and lights work.)
I removed the two necessary electrical plugs. The air temp sensor and the harness for the MAF, while I had it all apart I used MAF sensor cleaner to clean my MAFsensor. I also noticed the air temp sensor was extremely dirty so I sprayed it with a little MAF cleaner. The only thing I can think of is that I ruined the air temp sensor? Please help!!!

Check your battery connections first. I would take them off, clean the contacts really well and make sure they are snug on the posts and try again.
Start with the easiest solution then work your way down the list. If this doesn't work, we'll move on to something else.
If a sensor has failed, you will get an error code so if your SES light is not on, then it's more than likely a simple fix.

I would try to jump start it or charge the battery! There was a previous post about guys working on their vehicles and blasting the radio all the while. Later theirs woldn't start.

Is it a "click, click. click" that you hear when you try to start it???

well..... first off my X is not a DD and I work a highly irregular schedule, that leaves it parked for long periods of time. It has been sitting in the barn at my family's ranch in WY. for almost a month.
During this time a mouse crawled under my hood and started chewing wires. It took a few hours in the shop for the mechanics to find the problem.
The EXACT same thing happened with my snowmobile two years ago.

It worked out well when it happened to my snowmobile though. I took it to the shop cuz it wouldn't start and took it home with a 210hp turbo:zunge3-big:
