I have a 2006 Xterra and am looking to get some 18" wheels and tires. I really like the Nitto Terra Grapplers and the size is 285/60-18....are these gonna fit without rubbing? I was told they are 31.4" high and obviously a bit wider than the stock 265's. Need an expert opinion here as I've heard they will work fine from some tire places and others say they may likely rub. They dont make those tires in any smaller size so I need to know for sure before I order them.
Thanks in advance for any help here.

You should be fine. The 2nd gen X's can run 31"~33" tires with little to no modifications. Lift is not required, but you will probably need to do a melt mod. Which is just heating up the wheel well plastic and pushing it in (http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=6021&highlight=melt)

Just stay within the 4" back spacing

Thanks for the reply...really appreciate the help. Seems like no-one can give me a straight answer with anything when it comes to tire and wheel places. Looking forward to getting some all black wheels and tires on there. Not sure what you meant by the 4" back spacing though...I'm not real mechanically inclined so I appreciate any further explanation on that. Thanks again...you have upgraded wheels and tires on yours? Just to clarify I don't have the "off road" package as well...just the standard "S" model if that changes anything.

its the backspacing on the rim. when you buy the wheels make sure its the same as the standard wheels backspacing
