OK, so I'm brand new here & so far I like what I see - a lot of people being enthusiastic over a vehicle I love!
Some background on me:
My 2005 Xterra is the first for me (previous 4x4 was a 99' Explorer Sport).
I'm an automotive product engineer working in Detroit but like to hang out in the Outer Banks (but you knew that from my ID, right?). I work in electronics and am in the process of adding a PC to my car (just waiting on a ram-mount delivery to go full time). Since I had to buy my car off the lot (end of September) I couldn't get navigation or high end radio, so I have added a JVC audio system with DVD player and will get navigation up and running as soon as I get my monitor mounted (darn thing bounces around a lot if it's not anchored - must be the potholes here). Other items I want to add include an outside temperature sensor and an inclinometer (for those times when I may want to leave the highway - they are pretty much all in a ditch up here). I have other ideas that I may discuss privately with interested parties - shoot me an email.

Any one out there working on similar items?

When I get some time I'll post some pictures showing my system and progress (and I'll even put in an icon or two to make my messages more interesting)...but it seems like work expands to fill all of my available time! Gotta go for now - work is calling...

welcome, good to see someone takin their X in the direction you are. ive been very interested in the idea of puttin a pc in my truck, with a touch screen(sony makes one i want around $1k i think) no more cds! of course i could watch dvd's too, and would be able to tune my audio with much more precision. however ive not met anyone with my enthusiasm for it, definitel let me now how it goes and what all it requires(other than your basic pc components). hope you enjoy your stay!

i never though about putting a pc in my xterra but i have a in dash flip screen and i use the av cables from that to hook my laptop up to it to listen to music (much like hook you pc up to your tv) i also have a ps2 in my glove box (the new ps2 the old one was just to be to fit)
