I have a CB. Bought it for wheeling, but find it nice on road trips or when you are stuck in traffic and want to get info on why. It's also some good comic relief when you are bored.

I forget where I read this (might have been nissan.com) but when you install your cb radio you have to really avoid coming close to any wires for the computer or anything electrical. How serious is that. I'm used to jeeps where you can just install it however you want, as long as you have the signal strength. What route did you take to run the cable and wires.

The first gen x's seem to get a lot of interference from the fuel pump. I don’t know how bad it really is, but I wired up a first gen and we wired the CB into the cig lighter with vampire taps and ran the antenna up behind the glove box, through the grommet in the firewall and mounted the antenna on the ARB bumper. It seemed to work well. Only problem I thought the cig lighter was always on and it wasn’t, so every time he turned off his X the CB would turn off. This normally isn’t much of a problem, except he had a manual tranny and would often turn it off on the trail when we were stopped. It would end up resetting the CB to channel 9 every time it got power.

I don't have any problems with mine. My antenna even runs along the back of the firewall and then down the passanger side behind the battery to the antenna mounted on my bumper.

I have no prob w/ interference at all... my antenna is mounted in back, wire runs inside along the passenger side and out the hatch.

I am working on an install now. I am using the extra space in the Double Sized opening left over from the new radio. Cobra has a unit that I think will fit perfect. I will know on Tuesday. My antenna is on the back. I fabbed a bracket that attaches through the factory bolts for the side bumper step. A real clean install, so I just hope it will work.
