I have a 2000 X with 15Rx7 stock rims. I'm putting a 3" BL on next week. My question is, can I run 32x11.5 tires on those rims or will I need to get a wider rim? Thanks

Yes, you can run those no problem. You can go 33x12.5 if you want to.

If you want to save money, then I'd definitely go with the 2" BL... (most people do) It's about $100 cheaper.

The 3" doesn't give you really any advantage over the 2", and it's A LOT MORE WORK!!! You have a steering shaft extension, transmission & transfer case extension, gas filler & vent line extensions, and you will need to extend your gas tank vent lines and power steering fluid resevoir lines which are not included in the kit.

I wouldnt go any bigger than a 31x10.5x15 with a 7inch wide rim. Any wider of a tire and you are risking the tire to pop off the rim. you could run a 33x10.5x15 though. Just a thought.

There are tons of people running 33x12.5 on both the stock 15x7 and the stock 16x7 aluminum xterra rims. I do not know of one person that has popped a bead off the rim.

so what else do I need to know,in addition to all the extensions, about the 3"BL for my '00 X. I'm having a buddy install it but I want to understand the process too.

I guess, it also depends on what kind of offroading you are planning on doing. If you want to run with a 2-5 psi then having a slightly wider rim than a 7inch is preffered. but if your just running the mud pits and puddles then having a 7 would be alright.

On the 3" you will need to cut the area out behind the Tcase shifter so it has room to engage. You will also need to weld on the shifter extension. I don't how the steering extension goes in, but I don't think its welded.

I don't think any other extra cutting or welding is necessary, but its still way more work than the 2"

you have convinced me...I'm going with the 2" thanks for all your help. I'll post some before and after pics when we're done. Thanks again.
