: new to clubxterra
granitex 06-18-2009, 08:03 AM New to the site, not new to Xterras.
What I have is a 04 with Shrockworks front bumper, Sliders, winch, custom light bar, rack, and rear bumper with swing away. Along with a 3inch SL, laptop mount, extended breathers, CB and Sgt Lobo rack.
Looking around I see some familiar names, but also a lot of new ones.

drbandkgb 01-28-2011, 05:22 PM Did you build the trailor? Any pix of it? Looks sweet..Thanks brah!
Go BUCKEYES!
granitex 01-28-2011, 06:20 PM Yah I built it off of a harbor freight frame that has been augmented a little bit.
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k142/granitex/mxgday2043-1.jpg
it is bolted and welded at all of the frame connections. There are two recievers built into the back as a bumper, and a 3500 lb axle. with a tube that runs the length of the trailer from the tongue to the rear bumper.
The upper part is just 1 1/2 angle skinned in plywood, with the floor of the lower well doubled up. I left the top open because I use it as a utility trailer a lot and needed to be able to get in and out of it quickly.
I didnt take any pics of the build. but if you have spacific questions let me know.
As it sits currently I keep all of my camping stuff, tools and spares, ect...
It holds about a weeks worth of camping stuff for four people, and my kids pack heavy. The nice thing is that is keeps all of the weight off of the truck, it is within the slipstream so it does not affect milage. In fact when towing, you never even know that it is back there.
drbandkgb 01-28-2011, 08:18 PM Very cool man.. Im sure it was cheaper that the 3K these guys want for them :D
Been thinking about building one of these..
soccerbrace 01-29-2011, 12:47 PM Can I get a full facial?
granitex 01-29-2011, 04:09 PM The trailer kind of evolved over a long spring. the tires were free, the wheels are a real bastard size so they came really cheap like buy one get two free, and the one was $25. They had been taking up space for several years in a local trailer shop and he just wanted to get rid of them.
The rear bumper is the cross brace, class 5 reciever off of an old chrysler wagon that was getting prepped for a demo derby. Love free structural steel, and that they used 1/4 inch thick angle to build that hitch with.
It is kind of buried right now so it will be a little bit before I can get any good pictures of it. But if you can hold on I can get them to you.
For the entire cost, I would guess around $300 for everything including welding wire, a custom axle, and paint. That and considering I can sleep on top of it I think that it turned out pretty good.
