Hey guys I have been doing some reading on xterra's I stumbled across this site and figured I might as well join up.

I live in CT during the summers and go to school in CO the rest of the year. I drive a 240sx and have for about 4 years now. Its getting to the point where i may turn this car into a track only car and thus where my search began.

I had a Cherokee a few years back that i did some offroading in and miss it everyday since I sold it. I Began to look at the xterra a few months ago as a possible vehicle to pick up as a daily. I looks like it might be the one for me although I still have my concerns.

I have some questions for you guys, im sure ill get told to search or something but i figured i would tie it into my introduction to see if i could get some quick responses. Ill be doing some searching later anyway.

#1 Do any of you use you xterra to tow a trailed car?
I read that they are rated to 5000 lbs which I feel with the appropriate trailer would be just enough.

#2 I drive cross country twice a year, Are these comfortable for long drives?

#3 how is the gas millage? I know these are suv's so I'm not looking for amazing but is it decent?

#4 Is it worth getting the supercharged edition?

#5 are off road/suspension parts fairly affordable? Is there large aftermarket support?

#6 What should I expect to be able to obtain for around $5000?

These are just a few of my starting questions. I'm sure ill find more answers as I browse through the forums.

Thanks in advance!

1. yes, I as well as other members tow a lot with our X's... enough to tow your 240

2. Driving across country is what it is, long trips in the X are fine.

3. Gas mileage is ok, once you start lifting and adding armor it's not as good.

4. I would'nt get the SC edition only because you have to run premium and knock sensors aren't so good with the supercharged X.

5. Fairly affordable yes...... large aftermarket support, not so much.

6. for $5K your looking at an 00/01 with a 100K, just get 4WD and your golden.
