Hello
I have a 2001 Xterra and it is time for new tires. I currently have the stock 15 inch rim and I would like to find out which other Nissan 17 inch truck rims would fit the Xterra?

What other Nissan truck 17 inch wheels will fit the Xterra?

thanks

thanks for the quick reply, I am glad I found the forum.
1 What years are first generation and does that mean only first generation of Xterra?
2 What about Pathfinders or Frontiers?
3 Why aren't recent years interchangeable?

thanks!

00-04 1st gen (02-04 were the s/c years)
05+ 2nd gen

i know for sure that the early pathfinders will fit and i know some of the frontier rims fit but i dont know what exact years for the frontier....

the reason 1st and 2nd gen rims wont swap out is they changed the bolt pattern....

as a example i can take my rims from my X and put them on my 91 pathfinder with no problems.... but the early pathfinders didnt have a 17" rim and thats what you are looking for right????

1st Gen bolt pattern: 6x5.5
2nd Gen bolt pattern: 6x4.5

There are a lot of options for the 1st Gen X's. You may want to look around and see if you can get aftermarket wheels of your liking.

thanks json and keyz,

yeah it doesn't seem nizzan had a 17 inch for the 00-04 xterra? I will keep searching to see if the 00-04 frontier rims will work.
The ones on ebay say frontier and xterra.
I am considering aftermarket, but am confused by all the details.
I don't understand what backspace I need?
These US black Crawler wheels look cool and affordable, but at 17X8 inches I think they are going to stick out?

The Titan/ Armada 17's will fit, not sure what the backspacing will be like- but my buddy has a Frontier with 18" Armada wheels and they look good. Center bore may be different. I think I also saw an X somewhere on this forum slammed on Titan wheels and they tucked pretty nice. Also- GM 6 on 5.5 wheels- yukon, newer pickups, escalade, suburban, etc will bolt up . As a joke my buddies put some 22" spinners on my X last summer , and they were originally on a Tahoe (yuck). Keep in mind that 17" off road tires are expensive if thats the route youre gonna go.

thanks shortbus, i read here that the 17 titans won't work because of the center bore, it sounds like you could make them work with some machining?

I really want these. . .

the guy wrote back to me they won't fit because of the offset?

so i just need to know if 01-04 frontier wheels will work?
and if the offset is different what does that mean?

thanks

Those look a whole lot like Xterra SC wheels to me- anyone correct me if im wrong? Either way if they are Frontier wheels i dont see why they wouldnt fit. As far as center bore- is your X 4WD or 2WD? if the center on the Titan wheel is larger the alignment would be lug centric, which should still be ok, you might just have to use different lug nuts. Dont take that as gospel, just my estimation of the whole thing.

OK -

The bolt patterns make it so any rim that is meant for an X from 00-04 will fit any other X in those years.

They only MADE the 17" rim for X's for the SC models, but, they FIT ALL the 00-04's.

:D

In 2005 (And 2004 for the Frontiers), they changed the model platform, and the bolt pattern, so its a completely different truck, so none of the new model (Second generation) rims fit the 00-04 X's.

pre-04 = 1st gen X

2005+ = 2nd gen X

:D

IE: YOU CAN USE THE RIMS IN THE EBAY LINK YOU WANTED TO-They're fine

The wheels linked to are the fronty version of the Xterra S/C wheels i think.. at least thats what they look like. the X's S/C wheels were a dark gray

thanks guys, I had to look on the net to figure out S/C means supercharged and it looks like the first year was 02 and they had the 17 inch rims.

Dont know if this is legit...but I was thinking of doing the exact same thing but not sure if the bolt pattern is correct.

i have the same dilemma and being a newbie to this with the 2001 Xterra i got last week, i am also confused.

my X has 265/70/15 on it now and there's no lift. i went to that miata.net tire size calculator and these seem to be 29.6 inches in diameter.

i went to look at these tonight: http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/bnc/pts/1567393324.html

the tires were pretty damn huge (tall and wide)! we aligned them on the road next to the X and they were SO close to touching at the fronts and backs of the tire. but they looked SOOOO hooor-ny, it was sick! i wanna get them, but i dunno if they'll fit or not (hub size, bolt pattern, offset, whatever) and i think i'd definitely hafta do some kind of lift on the truck to get them to squeeze under. maybe even hafta remove the mud flaps and front bumper, but i don't wanna get into all that (as much as i like the way it looks). using the tire size calculator, those come in at 32.7 inches in diameter.

the guy said i could always go with slightly smaller tires on those rims, such as 245/75R17 (which according to the calculator is 31.5 inches in diameter) and then maybe they'd fit.

in another post by kbell2433 in reference to a 2001 X, he said that "275/70/16 (11" wide x 31.2" tall) or 265/75/16 (10.5" wide x 31.7" tall) will fit a stock x just fine and are the biggest you can go without a body lift or major trimming on a 1st gen xterra." so, it appears that the only way those rims will go on is with the smaller tires. the question is, will the rims fit then?

any thoughts from the experts here on this kinda stuff?

i think i may be hooped for those possibly, just have a feeling, so i checked around for something similar looking to those rims and i found some frontier rims here: http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/pts/1566584126.html

no idea what size those suckers are, but i like the look of them and am wondering if these will fit my X. can anyone tell me the possible year (the truck's a '98, but dunno if those are newer rims or not) and size of those things and if they will fit?

sorry, i've used the search and can't quite figure this out yet, and i know you guys likely get frustrated with newbie questions like this. i just don't know where else i can go to on this. perhaps nissan, but i like it here better. :)

thanks in advance for helping me and putting up with my questions!

won't work, right bolt pattern but too small hub size. the 4wd x hubs are 100mm and those are only like 65mm.

tough to tell on the frontier one but from the pic the hubs look too small. Probably a 2wd, Wheels that do work are found on older toyota 4wd's and isuzus and nissans.

damn, that sucks cause they looked bad-ass! i'll look around for the ones you've mentioned. i found some aftermarket ones for cheap, so i emailed the guy and asked him about the hub size and how much is left on the rubber. they don't look too bad: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/1559583020.html

one more newbie thing if you don't mind, are there any real benefits to having aluminum versus steel wheels on these SUVs, aside from the look and a larger variety of tire sizes?

and the search continues...

thanks!

The 17" titan rims will fit.. all you need is a router and a 1/2" rabbit bit and some ear plugs to bore the center out and they bolt right on... i have pics on my other computer and in fact posted them on here once of them bolted to a fronty... same with chevy 6 bolt rims tho the offset will be wrong and they stick out a bit... oh and for what its worth the rims on my x came off my girlfriends fathers titan

You really need to preface that with on a 2wd Xterra and frontier. It will not work on a 4wd unless you really cut out the center but then your playing with the integrity of the rim.

Are you sure... the 4" bore on a 4wd is the same 4" bore on a 2wd.. and yes you are taking out a 1/2 of material in the inside of the lug pattern that has no strength to the rim at all if the Titan had a 4" bore the rim would ne the same... I've seen a lot of the rims bored and I personally haven't seen a failure with them.. now if we was talking about the spoke of the rim or something then I wouldn't suggest it.. I just made the point thy it ant be dine since a year ago I asked the question and was told it couldn't mount up at all.then seen a Nissan site with bagged trucks and a lot of the frontys had the 17" titans tucking

Yes i'm sure, i tried to fit titan 18's. The front hubs are not only 4" around but also stick out almost 6" so you need to trim more then 1/2 inch.
