I think you'll be supprised at what the X can door for IFS truck. The one thing you will notice is the small aftermarket available for the X (especially the 05+ X's).

Where ya from?

going from a jeep to an x I noticed a huge lack of aftermarket products. However I plan on making my x the tow truck for my tj that I will be building up over the winter. Dont get me wrong I do plan on woring on the x and making it a little bigger, but that will be a bit. I hail from Ottawa Ontario Canada.

Let me know how the X tows the TJ. I have a built up 03 Rubi that I want to tow with the X but havn't put much thought into it yet.

The x wont have a problem at all towing the tj. With a tow rate of 5000lbs of the x, pulling the light weight tj (approx 1200lbs) It wont be a problem. I use to tow my old yj wit my old xj(cherokee) with out a problem. plus I think that the x will be a pretty sweet tow rig all done up like the calmini nissan project X.

My Rubi is 3700lb stock. I bet I have at least 500lb of additional steel and tires on it.

I figured with that kind of weight it could be flat towed, but I don't know how well a Rubi with 35's would flat tow. Once you toss in a trailer, even for a light weight aluminum you are tossing in close to 1000-1500lbs. That now puts me over the X's tow rating.

The average TJ has curb weight of 3449 lbs....

does yours not have an engine or something?


I think most motorcycles and quads weight about 1200 lbs.

actually your right, at the moment I dont have an engine in the tj. And I guess I was a little off on the wieght with the tj. must have been on something.
