I have an 06 Xterra S, and want to get some rims and tires, if i go with 285/65/18 do i have to get a lift or will the Xterra be o.k. i know the speedometer might be off a little, but will it rub or have trouble turning the wheel.
Thanks
No, its just a 285, easy to turn.
Not much sidewall for off road work, but on road handling will be crisper, but the shock valving will be off a bit on rebound, and the rim will probably be a lot heavier.
Lots of new X's run 285's. The plastic wheel well liners sometimes touch the edge of the tire on turns, but people have either just trimmed it off, or used a hairdryer to shrink wrap that plastic back a bit to clear. Eather way, not a big deal.

thats the thing, i don't go off roading, but i like the look of an 18" wheel with a big tire like that. the X is mostly used for city driving, but i don't think i want to go with 20" wheels because of comfort.
this looks sweet, just wondering if i need a lift. 285/65/18 BF All Terrain Tires on 18" Rims
want to do this to my X but with different rims:biggrin:

Then that's your combo, as BFG AT ko's come in that size, and are great tires.
You won't need a lift, as the tires are only a hair larger than the OEM size range anyway.
The X's can come from the factory with 32's, about like a 32x11/16 equivalent...
The 285/65/18's are like an 11.5" instead of an 11", and 32.7" instead of 32", etc.

sounds good.
now to find some nice wheels.
you know because of the xterra's bolt pattern there aren't many 18" wheels out there.

I have a 2006 S with American Eagle 026, I think thats the model number. They are 18 inch rims and I am running Nitto Terra Grapplers in 285/60/18. It looks great and I have had no problems with clearence or turning. I had a pic on here on my signature, but now it is gone. But if you go to my profile, it should still be there.
