Had a question about the ride hight difference between the '05-'06 Xterra Off Road package and the rest. I bought an S because I didn't want anything off the Off Road package except the wheels, tires, and suspension. I noticed that the off road package is slightly higher than my S. Is this due to the tire being taller, or is it possible that the optional shocks that came on the Off Road give it a slight hight advantage? Any info would be great. I was thinking about buying the suspesion as I don't really have any interest in raising my Xterra an extreme amount. I would like to purchase the wheels and get BFGoodrich All-terranes in the exact size as the off road tire. If it is the tire size that makes the Off Road Xterra slightly taller not the optional susension I will just stick with getting the right tire size. I searched briefly for everyone's information before I get flamed for being a newbie. Thanks again for any info.

I believe it is a little bit of both......I think the OR tires or .05 inches taller that with the little bit better shocks does make it a little higher. I wouldn't replace the tires just to get the height. You would be better off putting that money into sliders or something else but If your getting tires anyway then ya go for the OR size.

Cool. Yeah that is pretty much what I figured. I know the tires are taller just by looking at the size. I believe they are 75 instead of 70 that came on the S. I also like the wheels, so I was gonna buy the wheels and just get tires with them and sell my tires to a friend that has an '05 frontier. The '05 4x4 did not come with nice tires. They cae with the Generals. He really wants the tires that came on the '06 4x4, which would be mine. Thanks for the advice. I don't thnk I will spend the money on the suspension from the Off Road, but I will probobly buy th same size tire. Anymore input is welcome. Thanks again.

Its just the tires.

Shocks do not provide any lift...it would be the same height if you removed the shocks altogether.

:D

The 265/75/16 tires (The ones on the OR) are about like skinny 32's.

285/75/16's are a better size, more like skinny 33's with the width of 32's...a LOT of new X's are being upgraded to the 285's, as no lift is required, the wheel wells are enormous compared to the old X's.

(By 32's, I mean 32x11.5/15, a nominal common off road tire size)

The BFG AT ko's ARE a great replacement tire, you will like them alot.

:D

I'm running 305/70/16's on a first generation X...in the BFG AT ko.

:D

Thanks for the input. I was kinda leaning towards the tires being the main reason it is slightly higher. Mainly because it has a 75 series tire on it. I was kinda thinking in the back of my head that maybe the suspesion had a very slight affect, however. Thanks for the input. I think for now I will just get the 285/75R16 and sell the ones that came on it to a friend with a "05 Frontier. That will probably be it for a while. I am tryingto balance toy money between my X and my '95 240SX SE. Thanks for all the advice and input.

I have a 2006 OFF ROAD XTERRA. I know the tires are different as they use 70/265/16 on everything except the OFF ROAD version; there they use 75/265/16.
