I am proud to annouce Nissan has introduced a new Genuine Nissan iPod Interface for all the 05-06 Paths,Xterras,Fronts...
You have to have the 6 CD System in your truck for it to work, it hooks up to the rear of the radio, and gives you complete control of the Ipod through the Head Unit including displays, as well as the Steering Wheel Mounted Audio Controls! Very Nice Accessory. I have put them on my website, and included a link to the Installation Instructions.

Yes we have kits for the 2007 Xterra, you have all the controls from the head unit, and you can adjust volume from the steering wheel, but you can not adjust to the next song with the steering wheel controls.. (Nissan changed this setup in the 2007 Year)

I have an 05 Xterra with the Base Stock Stereo, what is my best bet for an iPode interface? I would like to keep the stock stereo if possible.

If you've got stock, generic head units why not just get rid of them and put something in there with a bit more functionality.

Most newer head units are iPod-ready straight out of the box or the functionality can be added for a few extra dollars.

For example, this website has seven head units under $150. (http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Group/ProductMenu.aspx?g=300&tp=5684&nvpair=FFPrice_Range%7c%5brank1%5dUp+to+%24150&nvpair=FFiPod_Connection%7c%5brank2%5dBuilt-in+audio+only)
