I just came back from the Port Aransas and had a good fishing trip but bad time around the water. A friend of mine was following us around and when we went through a stream coming off a bay he went for a header in a deep area. He was pretty stuck and I didn't have much but some flimsy tie down strap that I use for my kayak. Good enough to hold down a kayak bad for pulling on trucks. So, my question is, what should I take with me to help others or myself in this situation? On trips like this I carry a few things and didn't want to take to much but some essentials. And things that won't weigh me down. Since X's tend to droop in the back when you have alot of stuff in them and on them.

i would take a few pull straps and some shackles cause they always come in handy.. LOL hell dustin and myself used ours today.. they were used to pull out a Lexus...

Wheeling with others and not alone for example is crucial when a stuck or break down would be dangerous.

Having front and rear recovery points, like tow hooks is important.

Snatch straps, 3" x 30', are great (Never use straps with built in hooks)

Some basic tools, first aid, water and non-perishable food, towels, change of clothes, etc.
